Ritz Carlton and JPMorgan announced a new Ritz Rewards credit card today.

It is an interesting card offering - includes three confirmed (at time of booking) club upgrades, a $100 hotel credit at RCs during each stay of two nights or more and Gold status during the first year. It also includes Priority Pass Select and an Amex-like $200 annual credit for miscellaneous airline fees.

50,000 points when you sign up plus 1 per dollar on regular spend, 2 per dollar of travel spend and 5 per dollar at RC hotels.

At RC's nightly points rates, this isn't that great of an earning rate. Category 7 properties at SPG (many of which are very nice) are 20 or 25k per night - versus the ritz Cleveland, even at tier 1, is still 30k points a night.

My sense is if you're otherwise going to spend a lot of dough at RCs, this card could be attractive with the 5x earn rate there. Heck, if you stay ten times (2 nights or more), those $100 credits will really add up. Confirmed club upgrades are worth usually $100 per night typically, too.

If you're not a regular ritz customer, this card is probably not worthwhile.

    $395 annual fee.

Thanks for sharing this. A good card for people staying with Ritz-Carlton perhaps, but not a card that even those folks would want to put any non-Ritz spend on realistically. The earn is just way too weak.

Agreed- however if you were holding a few meetings at an RC- this could be a way to rack up points quite quickly.

It doesn't look like you would earn anything more than 2 miles pr. dollar spent at other Marriott brand properties. Can anyone confirm? As other have mentioned, not a good card for earning.

I typically have 2-3 longer stays a year at RC and most of the time, I pay up to Club (which can be more than 100USD per night at the best properties). I also usually have a few weekend stays as well, so the 100USD credit is also a good incentive.

Very tempted, but the very limited earning scheme, holds me back
