    1500, 3000, 5000 bonus points etc...
Many IHG members are not interested to sign for these IHG promotions , since they are all targeted. I personally do not want to have my account blocked and lose all my points.
What do you think about this?

I signed up none. Not worth the risk...

Likewise, I have way too many points (300kish) to lose out on over a promo that I wasn't targeted for. ;)

Same here, not gonna sign up for them! Especially cause I send too many queries to IHG customer care, last year had my account audited and reset from Plat to Club member, after a lot of hassle my Plat level got reinstated.

Don't risk it! If you want bonus points, go for the set your sights promo instead.

I used to sign up for all of them, but I've decided to stop this year. Not worth the chance of losing my account of 600,000 points, or my RA status.

I too used to sign up for any and all bonuses but I want to keep my existing points + RA status

if I am not perfectly happy with my stay, I will contact guest relations about any issues and I have often been given points as consolation

I had recently some issues in 2 hotels, complained and asked for bonus points. Got twice 10K.

Nacho, I heard that some untargeted members took the risk to register for the last three promotions and got the bonus points in their account after their IHG stays.

Rosalia - I saw that on loyalty lobby too, but that is a YMMV situation. What if they suddenly audit your account and found out that you violate the term and terminate your account that has 6 digit points?

I don't want to risk my points for just getting a few thousand extra......

That's my reasoning as well. I get wonderful benefits as an RA, I have quite a lot points saved up, & TBH, I don't utilize my points that often anyway(I try to get a lovely deal from the 5K properties that pop up, & sometimes for IC's that are above $250 a night).

Just doesn't seem worth it anymore. Well, for me anyway.

    This cycles every few years.

Years ago you could sign up for everything without fear of tracking. Not so these days.

If no status and not planning, then little to lose. But as reported above and years ago on TOBB, it isn't worth it to lose status or have your points confiscated.
