Just rec'd an email about a new Plat AMEX for Mercedes Benz. It is offering up 50K MR points as a sign up bonus after spending $1k but doesn't mention anything about waiving the annual fee for the first year. Here's a link to the application page:

    https://www304.americanexpress.com/personal-card-application/mercedes-benz-platinum-card/20064-10-0

In addition to the sign up bonus, if you're a MB lover, it seems like there are some decent additional benefits:
    - $1k reward cert for the purchase or lease of a new MB after $5k spending in a year
    - 5x pts/$ for purchases at MB dealerships
    - $100 reward cert annually for MB accessories
    - Airport Club Lounge access

For $475 fee, I do not know if it is such a good deal. I do not see if one can add additional cardmembers and if there is a fee. Also cannot find if this card has $200 airline credit and GE benefits.

The $475 fee pretty much washes away most of the value from the 50K MR points earned. Especially since MR's partners have left or have been devalued (CO/UA, BA, AC, etc.)

If you take that at face value, you're still left with airline lounge access, $200 airline fee reimbursement, global entry, etc. all at no cost.

The regular Plat has had offers where the first year fee is waived, which saves you $475 (not a small amount). I wouldn't put an app on this unless there was an annual fee waived the first year.

Such offers are certainly not the norm. The 50k offer is on the strong side of normal. If you want the benefits, then it's well worth applying for the card, as the annual fee is offset by the bonus. Waiting for a better offer that may never come isn't necessarily a wise move. If you just want the points, you're not looking at the right card.
