That's awesome! Been wanting to do the Maldives forever, now there's an opportunity that doesn't cost 70K points a night or 1200 bucks a night ;)

You can see it now and it, and your in luck the rooms ARE close to $1200.00 depending on dates you choose. (first date I choose was $1400.00 a night). And some dates have a four night minimum.

  7. You didn't have to wait!

Under 1200 bucks and 70K points:
    Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma
    Conrad Maldives
    Hilton Maldives

OK, just tried to book an award to see what it costs...anyone know if there will be a new level for this property, or will it be 22K?

  9. Don't think we know yet. Doesn't show on any of the award charts, and attempting an award booking returns this message:

    • The award you have selected is not valid at this property. For assistance, please contact Gold Passport Customer Service at 1-866-557-6670 or your nearest Worldwide Reservation Center

Just an FYI to anyone that is planning on visiting, you have to take a flight from MLE down to the hotel. Im not sure if the Maldivian Air Taxis make it down there or if you have to fly Maldivian on a Q200/300.

ETA: "A domestic flight followed by speedboat transfer organised by the resort is required to access the island."
So it does require a flight to MLE, then domestic flight to KDM

The hotel opened in late 2009 and has been operating as Alila Villas Hadahaa. In its first year of operation, the hotel garnered recognition as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2010 Hot Hotels, Condé Nast Traveler’s Best New Spas in 2010, and 2010 DestinAsian Luxe List’s 41 Best New Hotels of the Year.
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa offers 50 villas with private decks and bedrooms with living areas. Designed by SCDA Architects of Singapore, the modern villa interiors include natural timber and stone in a minimalist, contemporary design. Fourteen of the resort’s 50 villas are elevated over the Indian Ocean with an uninterrupted view of the Maldivian horizon and are a private enclave for guests who yearn for tranquility. The other 36 villas are designed with intimate gardens featuring outdoor baths and rain showers. Individual plunge pools feature in some of these villas. Less than 30 steps from the azure water, they are designed to provide privacy and serenity to guests.
Park Hyatt Hadahaa features two specialty restaurants, The Dining Room and Battuta’s, as well as a poolside bar and 24-hour in-villa dining.
The hotel features a fitness and health center, multiple swimming pools, and a five-star PADI diving water sports center. Activities range from kayaking, snorkelling and diving to Maldivian cooking lessons, dolphin spotting, sunset cruises and guided visits to local artisan villages. A large freshwater pool overlooking the ocean provides guests with a picturesque backdrop during a casual swim or for lounging poolside. Guests looking for peace and solitude can visit the Spa Pool within the tranquil spa enclave. Shaded garden pavilions complement the serenity of the spa poolside.
The onsite PADI 5-star dive center offers an opportunity to dive amidst undisturbed reefs and site. Diving enthusiasts will enjoy experiencing the rich and diverse marine life, including a variety of sting rays – Spotted Eagle Rays, Porcupine Rays, Whiptail Stingrays, Marbled Sting Rays, sharks, and large numbers of green turtles and Hawksbill Turtles. On rare occasions, lucky divers have spotted Ornate Eagle Rays, Guitar Sharks, Whale Sharks, Marlins and Mobulas.
Hadahaa is more than 10 kilometers from the closest inhabited island and around 400 kilometers south of Male International Airport.

Big question for me is whether they'll allow me to book an award and buy up to an ocean villa. Don't wanna bank on Diamond upgrade...

Thanks, kalboz. My goal, though, would be not to handle this with the hotel at check-in but rather in advance. So that's a question I'll be asking my PL concierge to assist with. :D

Did you hear back on this? (assuming it was urgent enough for you to approach the PL agent already, of course) I totally agree that this isn't something I'd be willing to handle at check-in.

No, my PL concierge has been out and i haven't contacted one of the other folks designated for fill-in. Hasn't been that urgent because it's probably not a tirp I'll do for some months. Sorry!

No problem, not urgent for me either, but would be good to (eventually) know.

Does anybody know when the new Park Hyatt in the Maldives will be available for free nights, could not find it in any point redemption category. Any infos yet?

Thanks for letting us know and I look forward to book this stunning property with accrued points over the years, and I hope that it will go into category 6 and not as some speculated into a new category 7.

It's category 6, 22k points per night :) Excellent use of points... though of course everything there is expensive including hte necessary transfers from the airport (via seaplane and boat @ $450pp roundtrip).

    Thanks gleff!

Excellent that they have this property on offer in category 6 and not higher as we feared before.

Indeed, getting there is expensive, but I am rather glad too that it is possible to stay there on category 6 point redemption.

    Again my warm thanks gleff!

Indeed hard to imagine a better use of 22k points per night! :D
