Just spotted next to priority securty/pre check the new area under construction for FL checkin @ Ord.. Pretty exciting, hopefully maybe a private security screening line... This is where alaska airlines check in desks used to be

Likely to be like LAX where they escort you to the front of the existing line. There's already two security checkpoints on the end of the counter areas there (AA's premium, and the Alaska/Virgin/Spirit lines), I doubt they'd add a third.

Also, did the AA staff tell you this was for Flagship Check-In? Was there a big sign?

EXP status does not grant use of Flagship check-in.

My bad. I assumed we got to use it along with Flagship Lounge on international itineraries.

Ah well. I still want to re-qualify. ;)

    ;)

AA is really doing it nicely on the ground for premium pax (at least by domestic carrier standards). Thought not as restrictive (even lowly PLTs have access), AA has a segregated premium check-in area at LGA. http://upgrd.com/sitinfirst/aa-brings-out-its-a-game-at-lga.html Similar setup at JFK.

LHR Flagship check-in is an entirely different product at LHR than LAX/MIA. The naming convention is confusing but it's certainly not the same. Bell hops, separate security lines, etc. AA's Flagship Check-in webpage doesn't even list LHR as offering the service.

LHR's product is, IMHO, an inconvenience since it simply takes check-in desks and sets them further away from everything simply to label it "premium". No perks.

I don't normally link to my personal blog, but figure it would be appropriate here. I toured the new ORD Flagship Check-In facility on opening day and took a few pictures. I wrote out my thoughts and posted the pics here: LINK.

Finally a Flagship Check-In where I actually check-in! I always connect through LAX, MIA, and/or JFK, so I'm looking forward to using FSC for the first time in November. Still a long time from now, but it's always good to have something to look forward to!

So...just wondering what qualifies as transcon out of ORD? ;) Lack of those flights might cut usage of the FSC...

I don't believe there are any. From the web site: http://www.aa.com/i18n/utility/trans-con-access.jsp

*Eligible transcontinental flights include JFK-LAX, JFK-SFO and MIA-LAX bi-directional routes.

I know. By definition, ORD wouldn't have any. Just trying to be funny, and failing. Having never used FSC in the other airports, I was also thinking that this might reduce demand for it (if demand is ever really that high?).

Ah, missed that. It's impressive how much more "international" the ORD service is than DFW. No Flagship Checkin or Lounge. Must be because they have to fight harder against United there (and LAX/NYC). We've actually connected through ORD instead of DFW from AUS for at least one international flight... and having an AUS-ORD flight several times a day is rather nice. Of course when connecting, the Checkin would have been useless... and I prefer the ORD AC to the FL anyway.

The problem with putting amenities like this in DFW is a question of where? They have 3 and a half horseshoes filled up there that account for a lot of access points for travelers checking in there. If you put it in D, then the A travelers are out of luck...

More and more, AA seems to be moving international traffic to D. There are certainly international flights out of other terminals, but few and far between. Space is certainly an issue, though...

Yes in D would make sense. It's Texas - if its too small just make it bigger (as a former Plano person I can say this) :)

One of the worst check-in experiences I've ever had. Understaffed, unknowledgeable, and it took a lot of suggestions on my part to get any "out-of-the-box" thinking. Very unimpressive. The FL, on the other hand, is excellent even the only views are of jetbridges.

Was that Ryan Bingham who just got inside the AA Flagship Check-in? ;)
