I'll just start this off with facts about me, hopefully find a good direction to get started in. I have two questions I'm trying to answer currently:
    1. What credit card(s) should I apply for next?
    2. Which programs would match my preferences best?

    Age: early 30s
Job: computer programmer, working from remote
    Income: around $100K
Credit: 2 cards totalling 6K. Credit is about 740 across the 3 bureaus. My credit history up to February 2015 consists only of paying student loans since 2007. I was living overseas and just operating in cash up to early this year.
Travel: extremely heavy, mostly in Asia. It's a mix of personal and business, and a lot of the time I just do it when I get bored. I can reimburse travel from my company, so a lot of it is tax free, but I am still paying for it.
Other restrictions: I'll be looking to get a mortgage at the beginning of next year, so I don't want to adversely affect my credit at that time.

Here's my answers to the newbie questionnaire if that's helpful:
    What is your origination city/airport?
I don't currently have one, and don't have plans to settle down anytime soon. I fly from city to city in Asia now, spending 1-4 weeks in each place.
Where do you tend to travel?
Mainly in Asia. I take 1 or 2 trips to the US and Europe each year as well.
What is your goal for the frequent flyer program (status, upgrades, rewards, etc.?)
Upgrades and rewards to make my travel habit more pleasant.
How much do you travel in an average year?
I fly 2-6 times per month.
Do you fly for business, pleasure, or a mix?
Mix, but the business travel is flexible in terms of dates.
How much of your travel is paid by someone else?
Best to think of it as being paid by me.
How much control do you have of choosing flights, airlines, etc.?
    Complete control.
What days of the week do you typically travel?
    Any.
    Can you book flexible fares?
    Yes.
If you are likely to qualify for elite status will it be miles or segments?
    Miles, I think.
Do you have a preference or imposed requirement of hotel/rental car/credit card partners?
Not particularly, although I don't get much personal value from hotel upgrades to "nice" places.
Can you get extra miles from credit cards, surveys, other partners?
    Yes.
How would you like to use your miles for awards? (Intl F & C trips, domestic flights, other non flight awards).
International trips, especially from Asia to the US or Europe, as that is the most painful leg.

Are your 2 credit cards U.S. based cards? How much effort are you willing to put in to manage which cards to use to maximize rewards earnings? Do you rent cars on your business travel? If so, does you company have a negotiated rate with one or more companies which provides insurance? Can you purchase your business flight directly from the airline or have to go through corporate travel agency/web site? Do you currently or are you willing to stick with one airline or airlines in an alliance (e.g. Star Alliance or One World) for you travel?

Asia is a big place, so what Airline do you use the most..

One needs to zero in on what is best for them.

Miles means nothing if you do not, or can not use them.

You are not settling down any time soon, but are planning to get a mortgage in about 6 months or so?
