I remember when this hotel was owned and managed by Orient-Express / now Belmond / and was a member of LHW. Belmond has however still the Mount Nelson in Cape Town. Wishing them well now as a Four Seasons property.
the Four Seasons should buy it
A statement has been released to outline the short-term situation:
“Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. sold The Westcliff, Johannesburg, in December 2012 to a joint venture partnership between Albwardy Investment and Hotels Properties Limited. At that time, Orient-Express agreed to stay on as managers of The Westcliff for a period of up to 12 months whilst the owners developed their plans for a substantial investment and renovation project.
Hotels Properties Limited do own quite a few luxury hotels, incl. several FS and the MO Prague:
Albwardy Investments UAE owns also quite a few hotels incl. FS around the world:
Four Seasons does manage the luxury property, but the above mentioned parties own the fully renovated hotel.
@uggboy I meant Belmond Cape Town
Thanks for clarifying this, I doubt that Belmond want to sell their "gem" anytime soon. It's one of their flagships. Of course, for FS this would be a boon, and taken the two hotels together would be equally interesting, this was the same when they both were owned by then Orient-Express, now Belmond. Interesting thought.
anyway has anyone been
