Wow, they are looking more and more like a motel 6 or super 8 or ibis.

I thought they want to roll out this new design eventually around the world in their HI Express properties. :)

Wouldn't go that far, it's Marriott with their Moxy brand which is in co-operation with IKEA. Cheers. :)

I doubt that there is any closet - most HIX I stayed at in Europe don't have closets!

If you really want Ikea, there is an Ikea hotel at their home city called Almhult, Sweden http://www.vardshuset.nu/o.o.i.s/15. Ikea uses it to house their overseas visiting staff plus conference guests. It's about 2:30 from my home, stayed there once, and everything is Ikea. It's beautiful in summer, tall trees with blue lakes.

The HIX rooms are already tiny, the new design makes me like them even less (I think the room in the picture is less than 200 sq.ft) - if this is what I get, why don't I book Ibis instead (HIX are not cheap in Europe)? Maybe IHG thinks that their setyoursight promo is so great that people will pay premium for a ibis style room with breakfast.
