Sounds like a lot of cost savings for LH.....but not for passengers?

I'm sure LH customers will not be happy on this...while saving $$ can be good, the loss of a premium cabin may not be appreciated...

Also the loss of the lounge unless they are Senator or HON Circle (no star gold).

No, LH customers will not be happy with this.

I can see many people being upset about this. Not LH customers though. Business lounges are almost always full, senator lounges recently became that too with all the star gold members fast tracking up the system and just joining in. I can't count the number of times I have entered the lounge only to go to the other to check for an empty chair to sit on and then just end up on a bar in the airport.

It seems as though FTL will lose their lounge access in this way so I don't think ALL Lufthansa customers will be happy with this enhancement. Also HON circle members are not happy as they can only accumulate miles now with business class and first class tickets- both of which Germanwings does not offer (it is an all economy carrier).

Will Germanwings flights be LH flights operated by Germanwings and continue to earn miles with *A partners (along the lines of LH flights operated by their regional subsidiaries/partners)?

No one knows, more on Dec 6. Till then it looks like it will all move to 4U flight numbers with squat bennies for *A partner elites. More here: http://bit.ly/U4f60N

Unless you are in transit at DUS you will probably not be affected. The routes which are most affected are point-to-point not including the MUC and FRA hubs.

If for example however you fly DUS/VCE you will now have exactly the same benefits with Germanwings as you do with Air Berlin or Ryanair- unless things change in the next few days as posted by Oliver.

Is this United's TED approach taken one step further? (different airlines, LH -> 4U)
