Get ready for a new flagship! The Park Hyatt New York officially opened its doors yesterday and it’s a beauty. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never stayed at a Park Hyatt personally, but when I asked readers to name a hotel they’d actually want to live in on a previous Fly&Dine interview + giveaway with Ben of One Mile at a Time, a bunch of you named various Park Hyatts around the world. That’s a pretty ringing endorsement. So what’s up with the new Park Hyatt New York? Here are the salient details: It’s located at 153 West 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue, which is directly across from Carnegie Hall and walking distance from Central Park. The hotel is actually tucked into the first 25 floors of the One57 skyscraper. There are 210 guestrooms — including 92 suites — and they’ve all got floor-to-ceiling windows. Standard rooms are 475 sq.ft. and deluxe rooms top out at 530 sq.ft., a mansion in Manhattan terms. Rooms retail for $795 on the low end, but there are already special savings when you book through the website. The PHNY is the only hotel worldwide to offer Tubereuse 40 bath products by Le Labo Fragrances which designed an exclusive fragrance for the property. The culinary program will be helmed by Executive Chef Sebastien Archambault, who will oversee The Back Room at One57, The Living Room, and the hotel’s event spaces. The Back Room at One57 is a 96-seat traditional American grill focusing on high-quality ingredients prepared without much adornment. The 70-seat Living Room features a bar that overlooks historic Carnegie Hall. Chef Sebastien comes from the acclaimed Blue Duck Tavern at D.C.’s Park Hyatt Washington. There’s also a spa, Spa Nalai, as well as a 3-story aerie on the 25th floor with a steam room, hydrotherapy hot tub, private changing rooms, and an indoor pool complete with underwater speakers. Plus, the gym’s open 24/7. I’d swim in there for sure. It kind of looks like what I expect the pool at the Eyes Wide Shut party house to look like… Main photo courtesy of Park Hyatt New York/Donna Dotan Photography.
