united.com has injected a new favicon into my bookmarks in Firefox 15 - orange square with a blue border and what looks like a capital C in blue inside, plus a jet contrail. A little busy but at least nicer than that blue globe. Surreptitious test marketing for a new logo?
I think kwai must be onto something. But at this magnification, the C looks like a last quarter moon ...
I'll set 'em up, you knock 'em down. Too easy, but that was certainly fun. And I agree that it is almost certainly a corrupt favicon database.
Yeah, I just couldn't resist. Definitely a corrupt favicon database. Occasionally mine in Chrome does odd things. For a few days I had the Houston Chronicle's favicon showing Marriott's site, but then it tends to resolve itself after a new visit to the site with the wrong favicon.
Further report. I went to united.com, and normally such actions reload an icon into the whatever-it-is database, but it didn't work for 2 days; finally did, now that I'd gotten used to the one I showed you. Speaking of which, has anyone ever seen that favicon? I'm pretty sure it was new to me.
Nope, never seen it, and I have sifted through a number of people's icon databases over the years. (Job hazard.)
Next time make sure the 15-pin blue video connector is *firmly* plugged into your computer when viewing web pages through a projector, TV or monitor -RM
