I saw this first mentioned on Live And Let's Fly.

There are 4 clubs testing out individually-themed service items:

    • Boston (BOS)
    • Houston (IAH)
    • Las Vegas (LAS)
    • Orlando (MCO)
I think it's interesting that they only chose one hub for this test, and two airports (LAS and MCO) that definitely have a higher leisure component.

Here are a few pictures I snapped of food items at Las Vegas a couple days ago:

I went into more detail on my blog post, but the presentation was a tale of two cities. In the evening, I was greeted by at staff member shortly after entering the club. She offered me two choices on a tray (the caprese bite and salmon pinwheel). The cheese and charcuterie station looked really good and there was an employee helping customers put plates together.
In the morning, there were no servers passing the announced items. There was a hash brown bar where the cheese/charcuterie was the night before. It was a bit less inspiring than the evening presentation.

It's an improvement, for sure. But, only if you're grading on a curve. The international airlines generally do a better job with their clubs.

Has anyone tried any of the clubs testing out the new products?

Thanks for posting...I saw someone on Facebook mention different food offerings at LAS but I didn't know it was being rolled out at other stations.

I'll be in Boston next weekend and will try it out.

I stopped by LAS last week the exact half hour that there was NOTHING from the new selection on display. The new discounted $5 cocktails did look tasty, but inferior to the Amex free offerings.

I am flying out/in Monday&Tuesday and will check out if anything new is available.

This surprises me not at all. Someone on my blog noted that the contract staff probably just had no supervision. I'm sure that's part of it. It just can't be that hard to roll out an effort like this and consistently keep a small food display stocked up.

I've been supporting our local airport and flying DL out of MLB all summer. But now that the hordes of children will have dissipated, I have some UA out of MCO this quarter. Look forward to checking out the new options.

After pleasant greeting by the United folks guarding the entrance, I entered the club this morning. The hashbrowns bar was set up but unmanned. Apparently, the staff was replenishing the vegetables. Visually, it looked appealing.

I ordered my hash brown sans bacon and the cook nicely swapped out the existing pan that had bacon grease in it for a new one. Hashbrowns are stored in a covered roasting pan but not kept at temperature. As the cook was preparing my meal, a second patron walked up. He added their food to my pan. This resulted in food that was unevenly cooked when served. Additionally, he was using metal utensils on a nonstick pan which is generally a no-no as it will scrape off the pan coating.

The end result was soggy greasy hashbrowns with unevenly heated vegetables. I would need to be very drunk or hungover to enjoy this in the future.

I tried the smoothie. The bartender diluted it without prompting. It was very sweet not at all what I was expecting. It tasted like a lala yogurt served over ice.

Were the smoothies behind the bar or were they being passed around?

Thanks for the write-ups. So far with the pictures I see it doesn’t look that exciting, but I guess when you are starting with celery sticks anything is an improvement.

That cheese and charcuterie station appears to be the highlight. Each time I see the photo of the salmon pinwheels I think of the prepared grocery store food that single men will bring to potlucks and no one eats… Also as someone who really enjoys hash browns I would not call those McDonalds style paddies a hash browns. I guess they are going for American style “experimental” food.

Also I'm wondering if the use of the word "Experiential" was intentional or a miss spelling of “experimental".

Its the first time I saw that word:
    ex·pe·ri·en·tial
    adjective: experiential
involving or based on experience and observation.
"the experiential learning associated with employment"

They were behind the bar. It was served to me in a mason jar. I was asked if I wanted alcohol added to my smoothie. I declined.

At least the Gold and Blue napkins look elegant.

And, that's where the problem lies. Most of us (myself included) can be convinced this is an improvement based on the previous standards. Problem is in that thinking a celery stick was ever an appropriate standard.

The celery/carrot sticks are an improvement from timalook cheese and fritos!

Tried the 'new' drink offerings in SNA last Thursday. Let's just say different.

Did they have the desired affect? If so, I'm not sure I see the problem.

I'm at the club in BOS right now and it seems to have reverted back to the classic fare.
