My new Gold card arrived today. I agree, nice design.

But I wonder, as a lifetime Gold, why do I get a new card with a year-out expiration every year anyway? Wouldn't be easier/cheaper to send me one with no expiration, and only replace it on request, or if my status increases?

I thnk it's OK, but would have been a nicer looking design if the world map had been made a little less prominent (more subtle in the background).

Some non-AA ticket and gate agents (and also non-AA lounge dragons) are trained to look for expiration dates, and can have "issues" when presented with a card with no expiration date.

I don't like my new elite card at all. It only says "Platinum" on it. :(

I don't like it. It looks like Justin the intern was playing around with Photoshop one summer afternoon between filing projects.

I wish the luggage tags did not have my name on them. I really prefer the Qantas tags where it is two sliding pieces of plastic (each status band varies by color) and you can fill in all your details on the inside. For some reason I just don't like people seeing my name when riding trains. (a stranger adressed me by name once and it creeped me out as I couldn't figure out how they knew me...)

It's not amazing, but I think its an improvement over the previous one. I'd prefer they do away with my EXP card and just issue me a golden barge to be carried around on like Caesar or Cleopatra. No need for a status card to identify you with that kind of entourage. [IMG]

Agree - golden barge/entourage is the direction the industry is heading

Can someone post a pic? With suitable blurring, of course.

So one can compare the old and new card (EXP shown above), new cards and new luggage tags:

No longer unfortunately - QF now provides members with its new RFID tags, which are basically the size and shape of a drink coaster. Personal details on one side in plain view
