Over the next few weeks, we’ll be making some changes to our booking class structure. If you usually book a flight in a particular booking class you may find that the fare level is different from what you’ve been used to, but more importantly the Diamond Club miles earned may also differ.
The new booking classes will be on sale from 8 February 2011, for travel on or after 1 April 2011.
    New Diamond Club mileage table
For travel on bmi operated flights from 1 April 2011e

    Miles earned

    Business and high
    Economy
    x 2.0
UK and Western Europe -- J,C,D,Z,P,I*,Y
    Rest of World -- J,C,D,Z,P,I*

    Standard – mid Economy

    x 1.5
UK and Western Europe -- B
    Rest of World -- Y,B,M

    Standard – Economy
    x 1.0
UK and Western Europe -- M,U
    Rest of World -- U,H,O,G,Q,V,W,S,T

Standard – low Economy (UK domestic and Western Europe)

    x 0.5
    H,O,G,Q,N,V,W,S,T,E,L,K
Standard – low Economy (rest of world)

    x 0.25
    N,E,L,K

If you have an existing booking for travel after 1 April 2011 in a booking class that is changing, then your booking may automatically be amended to the new booking class. The level of miles you earn will remain the same, and all original ticket conditions will apply.

  2. Seems they are preparing for getting married with Miles and More. Rumors are out there that in the middle of the year DC will be M&M

Hope they dont screw with award multipliers earned on *A flights. But that may be wishful thinking at this point

Shouldn't be - most of the earnings are similar to M&M.

Earning has basically be aligned with m&m already. I guess the next step will be spending levels.
This looks like salami tactics. Slice by slice enhancements.

This will make the M&M merger easier. What do you think? When will be DC history?

My guess would be within the next 6-9 months.
Latest until the end of LH's fiscal year (31.12).
I have cashed out of DC, with only 15k miles left over.
(it was actually quite difficult to burn through 500k, as I have mostly revenue flights booked)

It won't be as late as the end of the year. They have been talking about it for so long now.

The safe option is to burn as quickly as possible if you have a large balance. "burn, baby, burn!"
If you have a small balance its' "burn while you earn"

  10. I've just posted my view on another thread. But whether I'm right or not, one thing is as clear as day - the value will never be better than it is right now - all indications are that the programme will be whittled down to an equivalent value to M&M. Thus keeping a low enough balance is prudent.

I think it's also important to put some of the recent changes to BAEC into the mix. As GoldCircle mentions in the other thread LH have done their research on what reactions would be if they merge DC into M&M. They will likely try to whittle down DC costs (which means less generous earn-burn ratio) and align with M&M, though not entirely copy it.

I reckon we might still see a slighter more generous DC compared to M&M due to the competition with BAEC.

Also we could end up being merged with VS FC should a VS-BD merger become a reality [IMG]
