Just received this email. The word "Premium" scares me, which in typical DL speak means extra $. One intersting item to note is that they got some better vodka.

Yes, after all the howling about the recent changes "without any improvements in the offering" it turns out that Delta might actually be making the club experience much nicer.

What they don't say is whether they're going to charge for things like pancakes -- it'll be interesting to see if they're any good.

I just received the same email. How many miles will I have to spend to "upgrade" my bagel? (Is it too much to ask for seeds????)

Since they said "premium," I'm going to kind of assume that it's going to be things they charge for.

But, if they wanted to lay on some nice tapas style food and/or some good wine options I'd definitely be interested if they were priced competitive with the offerings in the terminal (even better if they're slightly below terminal prices).

Remember not that long ago, they had soup mid-day.

I find their choice of "test clubs" interesting: DFW, MIA, RDU, LGA, LAX, SEA...

It's the classic Delta playbook - take away a lot, give back a little. The changes to the drinks a year ago were a huge hit. And that was just after a price increase.

I'm guessing it will be a machine like in the AS clubs, and those seem to be well-liked.

I think I've seen this type of machine in a Holiday Inn Express and it was about the same quality as a Hampton Inn Waffle --- which isn't meant as a compliment.

Yes agree. Other than hubs Mostly high value markets and growth areas that are or have been focus cities with increasing service in recent years.

Hmm, read the FT post and I'm intrigued.

I could totally see getting a manicure on my way out on Mondays (why not, saves me trimming my nails) and a massage on the way home.

I wonder if they would ever offer barber services. I would totally grab a hair cut once or twice a month at the sky club and avoid having to so it during my rare time at home.

That also happen to overlap nicely with hub cities for a couple of airlines that recently merged and one soon-to-be-former partner. :)

Once-a-month haircut would definitely go a long way towards justifying the [ever increasing] cost of membership.

Though I kind of wonder if a decent haircut would actually cost extra. Free haircuts would be limited to buzz cuts.

Don't be silly. No charge for pancakes. But if you want decent syrup or butter on them instead of toilet water and Crisco then you have to pay for a Premium pancake.

That's how I wear the (decreasing amount of) hair I have left, so that would work for me. :)

About the only genetic advantage I have is that both of my grandfathers died (one at 88 and one at 81) with full heads of hair.

So here's hoping for a little bit of free scissor work if DL implements a barber program.

Stopped in at the ATL A17 Sky Club just now to see if anything had been implemented yet. The answer is no. Their email said "mid-February" but just thought they might get a soft launch in ATL in advance.

LAX sky club has had extra food amenities this week, including soups and sandwiches. The sandwiches were pretty plain, but tasty. Lemonade was packed, and McDonalds has closed (oh, the horror), so that left the SC as a valid option for mid-day snack.

If they'd only do something about the beer. Even the premium beer is poor. I miss the local offerings which were usually quite good.
