    Hello everyone,

We posted in June that the new benefits for the US Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express will go live on August 11th. We’re now just one week away, and want to share some other related news. As part of the launch we are also introducing a brand new card design. Starting today, US Card Members can get a sneak peek by loading their Card to Apple Pay. Apple Pay today is supported on iPhone 6, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. We look forward to hearing what you think!

I like it @SPG Champion 3 . Will replacement cards be shipped out in phases? I couldn't find information in the FAQ's about new card shipments.

    Thanks.

I like the design of this purple AmEx card.

I think it was a mistake to eliminate all distinctive AmEx design features from the card. This design could've been a discarded proposal for the Chase Sapphire. I also find this shade of purple rather hard on the eyes.

Folks won’t have to wait until their cards expire in order to get the new plastic. Instead we will be sending existing Card Members new cards; however, it will take a few weeks past August 11th to get them all out. And of course all new Card Members will receive the new card design as well.

@SPG Champion Will this be Chip+PIN or Chip+Signature?

Starwood removing the foreign transaction fee appears to be trying to make the SPG AMEX more likely to be used overseas. In Europe, the Chip+PIN method is common. Are you considering enabling the Chip+PIN on the new cards?

I have recently received updated HHonors and Plat Amex cards, and they have all been Chip & Signature cards.

Nearly all, in not all, US-based CCs are PIN+Signature. Most banks who issue cards have been sending members chip cards to replace those without the chip. Chip & PIN, however, is not yet available for any CCs issued in the US, AFAIK.
