Both the PVG and HKG flights look well-timed for Latin American overnight connections in both directions.
    Losing JFK-HND end of November
MIA gets 773s for one of its two daily LHR flights in April, and for one of its four daily GRU flights next November.
First retrofit 772 and 763s with new seats will roll out in 2014 before the summer schedule. There should be more 763s after the prototype before the summer schedule as well. Reconfigurations go forward beyond that after summer.

    Thanks for posting, TBH!

Looking forward to these new services (especially HKG!)

btw, Mayor Betsy Price called Shangai "Shangapore" twice, and then "Singapore", before calling it Shanghai... :D

Very excited about HKG being a new destination for AA.

Pumped for these AA routes - though my fam just moved away from HKG.

Posted how I heard from an AA staffer a while back as a rumor. Glad the rumors were true!

This is good news, but I don't like the flight times for the DFW originating flights. Coming from DCA, I'd have to get up too early in the morning to catch a flight to DFW, while still leaving myself a long enough layover.

True, but they're likely more concerned with connecting traffic from Latin America/South America's overnight flight schedules. :)

I'm not so sure these routes will last. Long routes burn lots of fuel and carry less cargo. It's more fuel efficient to carry pax on domestic planes to the West Coast and then TPAC. Or via NRT. Or via ORD, which is still closer. DFW is not a good location for long TPAC flights.

Yes, but it is DFW, and that in the grand scheme of AA is quite important notwithstanding the west coast or ORD.

They've been doing NRT from there for a long while. Not as far. But still.

NRT is about 3 hours less than HKG. It makes a big difference as the extra fuel displaces a lot of cargo. AA's history on long flights hasn't been good (both ORD-DEL and JFK-HND are gone.)

Connecting flow traffic is less profitable than O/D. Does DFW have much O/D to HKG? It really only make sense for flow traffic to/from Latin America, but AA's big hub is in MIA. If any traffic has to double connect, AA would do better to route them via ORD or LAX. We'll see but I doubt that DFW-HKG will remain long term. PVG is shorter, but AA already serves it via LAX and ORD.

Maybe they'll give passes to the Centurion lounge that just opened up in D.

I managed to get reticketed on JL NRT-JFK. Anything else would have caused chaos to my itinerary due to connecting flights at each end.
