Wonder if this is the big new AMEX offer that we have all been waiting for?! I like it better than the current offer, but that is a lot of spend considering many of us are still working on spend from other recent sign-ups. Or at least I am............!

I have received the same offer, so if anyone wants a referral, please "start a conversation" with me, and include your name (I presume it should be as you plan for it to be on the application form), and your email address and I'll get it right out to you.

And I can provide you with an invite for the Starwood Business card - same benefits as above if needed.

I'd be happy to refer someone to this card as well. It's better than the 15k bonus after 15k spent, afterall:)

They want significant spend customers to make this their regular card. That's who they think it's worth the upfront customer acquisition investment to get. They don't want to pay such big change in advance to acquire a customer who won't spend that much, and they figure if they can get them to do it for 3 months there's a good chance of keeping 'em. Makes sense.

Of course there are planty of ways to get to the spend if need be... ;)

I can also offer a referral, just PM me your info.

Now we wait for the "Best use of 30K SPG?" thread to start...

I cancelled my SPG card a month or two ago, and now I regret it, especially since I have some large electronics purchases coming up that I could definitely use the extended warranty on and could use the SPG points. Too bad I can't be eligible for this 30000 pt offer. :-(

Check any of your (if any) Signature or Platinum VISA cards to see if they offer the extended warranty and/or purchase protection.

The Cap1 Venture card has an extended warranty (although presumably the warranty is only good if you keep the card and pay the annual fee.

I'm surprised to find anyone without a SPG card these days.

I've been so prolific in promoting the SPG card that the majority of my friends, family and co-workers carry the card.

Is there an application status/decision phone number that I can call?

I did not get instantly approved and I think there's a very good chance I'll be rejected (my credit scores right now are marginal and I was rejected for the SPG offer a year ago). It would be nice to call someone and preempt a rejection...

I had this card about a year ago and canceled it on June 13th of this year......so are my chances of getting this again pretty much in smoke for the bonus?

According to some people on DansDeals forum some people slip by and manage to churn, but YMMV. Very low chances. I was actually thinking of getting my dad to apply for the card, putting me as an authorized user, and just having me take over the account (paying the bills, taking over the SPG account, etc).

Is there a link to the referral bonus that gives the 30k points? The regular referral e-mail is still for the 25k points.

No link. You have to be referred by someone who received a targeted email from Amex. Also note the high spend required to get the 30,000 points. If you want a referral, send your name and email address to me (or anyone else in this thread who has offered) and we will refer you (because we would then also get 5,000 points).

Actually, I was wondering why I didn't get the targeted e-mail. I have a friend I'd like to refer to but want her to get the 30,000 points.

I'd be happy to refer her if you can't find the email and want to forgo the referral yourself. Not sure what made me targeted -- I've only had the card just under a year myself, though I do use it quite a bit.

I'm in the same position. I'm curious as to what the qualifications were for those who were targeted.

Do you actively use the card? If not, when did you last put a purchase on the card?
