Last night I was in F on a 777 GIG-MIA. They had the brand new enhanced amenity kits. A helpful FA told me they are the same now for both C and F. They absolutely are different.
PRO: the new kit looks attractive.
    There is now a razor.
    There is now deodorant

CON: there is now a razor.
The razor has an easily removable guard, missing in my kit. The resulting gash on my finger required four successive bandages, iodine, and a couple of towelettes to sop up the blood. Now, 18 hours later it still is bandaged.
    There are no longer booties.
    There are no longer eyeshades.
NET: the new amenity kits are a bust! They look more expensive than do the old, practical ones.

No eye shades?! THAT seems a bit silly!

Sorry to hear, jbcarioca! I hope that the "New American Airlines" is paying attention and reads your posting!

In other ways, AA is becoming a better choice to fly because they haven't (yet) gone the way of United and Delta. Let's hope that they continue to listen to their customers!

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't see any amenity kits here, either.

Since just about all I ever use/need from the amenity kit is the bag itself if it looks good it sounds great to me.:D

    No eyeshades is ridiculous.

As long as you don't slice off major body parts while trying to dump out the contents... ;)

It makes me think of the window shade open/closed debate. Those who want it open often state, "Then use an eye shade..." What now.

I actually generally bring my own shades.

I usually do, but have always liked knowing there was one in an amenity kit if needed. :)

Never used shades, but soft puffy socks (ala LAN) would be nice.

Since slippers are now standard in J cabins, not much need for the socks. Eye shades, yes, though I use a pair received from LH in F that have a velcro "fastener" instead of the elastic. I find it's easier on the ears and unlike elastic doesn't leave an indentation on the skin after a few hours of use.

Anyone have a photo of the new kits, at least the bag? Are they still using an Eames design?

I love slippers. I found it disappointing that UA had them in Business on a recent flight to NRT, but didn't offer them in Global First on the return from TPE. Hate to have to put on shoes to visit the lav/sty. Disposable socks aren't a good replacement, IMO; for me they serve a different purpose. I would not wander into the sty with just socks, even disposable ones.

I haven't had slippers on any of my J flights in the last few months. I've been telling people not to expect them...

I had slippers on my last few TPAC and TATL flights from Aug-Oct 2014. But I'm disappointed about lack of eyeshade...I'll have to rummage through my old kits and scavenge what I have left.

My last flight, aa905, Mia-gig, had most of the expected F amenities. Pajamas, booties, slippers, eyeshades...

I was told that all those things were missing from my previous flight, causing this thread, because catering was deficient. I have no idea.
