New Airpoints plan upsets frequent flyers

    Some of Air New Zealand's most frequent fliers are in uproar over a plan to make them auction their airpoints for seat upgrades.
    They say the airline's chiselling its best customers, but Air NZ claims it will mean more people will get to experience a better seat.
    Airpoints members can currently redeem points, at a fixed price, to upgrade to premium economy or business class seats.

    I can see the good routes having upgrades cost a lot more suddenly, helping to burn rough outstanding points balances. While the seats that still weren't taken, will remain that way.
