WASHINGTON – When Transaero Airlines takes delivery of its first Airbus A380 in 2015, the Russian carrier's superjumbo jet may end up having the highest seating capacity of any commercial passenger jet in the world.

Transaero CEO Olga Pleshakova tells Today in the Sky that the airline will outfit its four A380s with 652 seats in three classes of service.

Not as bad as the other potential 840 seat option. I'd like to experience it once just for the applause after landing.

If anything this will cause DL to reconsider their stance on the 380....

Also, imagine how this flight will be when the usual proportion of vodka-soaked Thailand-bound Russian gambling/hooker/mineral extraction moguls travel together to inspect their properties.

I want to read a TR! Volunteers, please...

Transaero FC (Imperial) is very good and very luxurious. A surprise maybe, but it is good and it may be even better in the A380. I have flown it only on the B744 but will happily take it any time. Economy? No idea and I do not wish to offer a FR on Economy.

That's a sick number of seats. I would like to say I'd flown on a plane with 650 seats, but 4,000 miles in 31" coach? Uh, no thanks.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Modern Russian airlines want to be opulent in the premium cabins - Russians haven't forgotten how to be opulent, just because of seventy years of Socialism.... Tsarskoe Selo, tovarich.... the best things about DL SM are the ability to redeem on AM and SU in premium cabins but even better, UN...

I used to live in Singapore - albeit, before the Russians took over Sentosa - and more recently I've flown SQ61. IAH-DME, almost empty, a nice exit row in Y, SQ curry and Tiger with Krisworld, there aren't many Y cabin experiences as good as that...but from DME to SIN, filled with partying Russians sucking down their Stoli. Quite interesting stories. Although they were the broke ones because any self-respecting Russian mogul flies F on Transaero as you say... the J and F checkin lines are full of 20-something gangsters and their molls, check out that age demographic and compare it to J on all other carriers. You can see this phenomenon at places like HKT, LIM, CUN and PUJ.
