I have never noticed any such additional service charge before for this property. Any experiences?

PS. I looked at other properties incl. the Conrad BKK, they seem NOT to want an additional charge for point bookings, having said this, the new Conrad Macao adds also an additional " service charge " to the points total cost.

So far with Hilton, always when we had redeemed points, we had nothing extra to pay, as taxes and charges had always been included in the point amount we " paid ".

    Any experiences?

I've paid resort fees at Grand Wailea but have never seen any thing like this.

I'd ask them what the service charge covers. Housekeeping? Restaurant tips?

In fact, I might have to do that myself if I go forward with my plan for a HKG trip and Conrad stay.

Hmm, I've never noticed this before. I made a booking at the Conrad Bali a few weeks ago and don't see anything like that on my reservation confirmation when I check the rate details. Please let us know how it goes as I'm sure many of us would be interested to hear if Hilton is starting to charge fees on a point redemption.

    1. It's not specific to point bookings.
    2. I can confirm it was there on Feb 4 when I made a revenue booking (that I later changed to a points + cash booking).

Maybe they are charging you a BA Fuel surcharge on an award booking :D

These days everything seems to be possible, but we have not seen such service charge on point redemption bookings ever at other Hilton Family hotels so far.

It's not related to it being an award booking, though.

If you book an award at a hotel with a resort fee, that's typically still charged, right?

Indeed, the resort fee is still charged, but I have never heard / nor read about that the Conrad HK has such a charge before, it's definitively not a resort. The charge is billed as service charge on the webpage [ rate details ]. I can imagine, this comes out of the blue for many, a real surprise actually, as BKK or Tokyo nor Singapore have such associated charges.

Well, it's not a resort, but the fee does seem to be something akin to a resort fee.

Looks like they simply added one. Let's hope the other Conrad properties see this not as incentive to do the same.

All HK hotels incur a 10% service charge - I don't know what's for but it's the custom. I have never stayed at Conrad HK so I don't know about their policy. However I have had award stays at Marriotts in Hong Kong I never have to pay anything.

Also I'm wondering why it's HKD 23.35, it looks like a USD 3 'fee' which is not really 10% of anything close to 10% what Conrad charge per room per night.

I wonder if this is just a bug in the system, and perhaps the surcharges that are appearing are actually related to what HHonors is reimbursing the property in connection with the award stay?

Not even close..:) ... 23.35 HKD is close to $3 US converted. I believe I read somewhere that this amount is a charge through on your credit card ( to see if the one provided is valid??? or some other similar reason ) but the amount listed is not added to your final folio.
