I bought her a birthday cake for her birthday the first year we were married, she told me to buy her lottery tickets.

Winning it would change her life, many years later neither if us has won the lottery,

    We both consider ourself lucky.

She came to this country with $900.00 and 2 suit cases.
    we consider everyday Christmas..:D

My family and I are traveling to Rome this week. Is there a sure fire way to get upgraded to business class?

That's a really tough ask. Rome us traditionally a very busy route in the warmer months. Which airline are you flying? Do you have elite status?

I just booked an economy award on AA using Avios points and I paid with my CITI AAdvantage Platinum Select Card which is supposed to give me one free bag. Is it possible to activate that option on the flights?

My family is booking a hotel (on cash) for a Hyatt hotel for 9 days. We do not currently have a Hyatt card (I'm thinking of getting one once i'm over 5/24 as I believe it doesn't apply).

But besides doing that, are there:

    A) Any ways to get the best deal for so many days in a row
    B) Any way to really maximize points accrued for a stay like this?
    C) Any various credit card benefits to make this stay cheaper, like 4th night free deals (although I don't have the Citi Prestige anymore).

New Question? We rented a Hertz car in Ireland. Credit card says it will pay insurance claim for scratched bumper but needs a repair cost matrix. How do I get Hertz Ireland to provide that repair cost? They did not reply to the insurance co request. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in replying. You should be able to show the credit card at the airport to get your checked bag benefit.

Roughly when is your stay? There may be a promotion during that time period for extra points. The Hyatt credit card is the best way to earn bonus points on your stay. Unfortunately, there are no specific cc deals for 4th night free, etc. Specific properties (mostly luxury) have offers through other channels like FHR.

I've found Hertz corporate in the US to be much more responsive than overseas stations. They've helped me out of a number of overseas jams. Try either email or social media.

My wife still wants the lottery tickets instead if gifts, she said that is the only thing that will change her financial life.

We upgraded on the outbound to Rome, I made the upgrade on the way back, she would not pay the miles or the fee.

My wife is Asian she came to this country with 900 bucks and 2 suit cases, spent 11 year at Harvard, and is a specialist in her field, she tell me she is a lucky lady and believes she will win the lottery,

It may not be funny, but she really believes it.

She won a raffle her first year at a Harvard was paid for.she did not have any student loans and passed her boards, the first time.

I alway try to make her happy, and that is her wish for a lottery ticket..instead if a cake, found that out many years ago..

That actually seems like a good idea. My wife and I don't give each other much for gifts. We don't really want to be wasting money buying the equivalent of trash for each other. (That's unrelated to the value, if its unneeded it just becomes trash or clutter.)

If we had something we really wanted to needed we would buy it. We are lucky enough to not have a huge wish list of stuff that we can not afford or that we want but can not justify purchasing.

I could see how exchanging some scratch off cards could be sort of fun set of gifts. (I don't think I'd see lottery tickets as that much fun.)

    Agree !

For years, when asked I've suggested experiences rather than material gifts. Theater tickets, day trips, etc. I don't need more "stuff."

My gift from my wife last Christmas was agreeing to the Japan trip after me trying to plan it for four years!

I have bought her scratch off tickets also,

We all have too much junk, that we do not use.

I am sure the tickets are a pipe dream, but dreams are what life is often about.

None of us thought we would have or do the things we do today, I am 77, and seen many changes and dreams come true,

I win the lottery every year, and so does my wife, in the late 40s I drew $43.33 a month, from a PL 634 check.

There's a sense of relief that finally, being an orphan is understood and finally, there's a place to ... A dozen years later, the 84lh Congress passed Public Law 634, the War Orphans' Educational Assistance Act of ...

I was a war orphan, my father was killed in service, so we received a monthly check, and they paid for much of my schooling.

My mother handled the checks, I was kind of young back then,
