I didn't realize how bad it was... until I saw those after videos/pics. That's so sad...

That's awful, and I agree with the earlier post that United should be ashamed.

I'm going to snuggle with my dog now.

That is just heartbreaking. I won't ever fly with my dog for this reason... I don't trust any airline to take good care of him. If he could fly in the cabin with me, I'd consider it.

I would've driven cross-country to Boston to avoid flying with my dog (NOT saying the woman's choice to fly was a bad one or that she would have known what would happen. I am 100%+ on her side. I was just thinking, what would I have done if I had to move cross-country w/ my pup?). Roadtrips with a dog, especially that long, aren't necessarily a picnic either. But at least I am in control of taking care of him.

United's reaction to this is so disturbing I can barely think about it. Just awful.

This is exactly why I drove a van with my dog recently when I moved from Houston to California.

This isn't the first of such stories I have seen. Bottom line, if you love your pet as much as I love mine, don't check them.

I'm appalled that UA advertises PetSafe and then doesn't even try to insure that its claims are practiced. This woman was calm, IMHO. I would have been raising hell if I saw my dog out there being treated like that.

Fortunately, my dog is small enough to ride in the cabin with me. Copa will allow me to take him on board in a carrier that will fit under the seat in front of me. If they didn't have such a policy, I would hire a private pilot to fly us when I move to Colombia next year.
