My best friend turned me on to this Facebook app. It's a game sponsored by MGM Resorts that generates free comps at their casinos for all kinds of things. One of the ways to maximize your comps is to have a number of FB friends that are playing the game with you. You earn a bigger bonus on your daily spin based on the size of your friend group that are part of MyVegas.

Strikes me as a great way for us to team up and earn. While I've pretty much maxed out the friend bonus I'll be happy to add anyone as a friend if they're trying to build up their numbers.

I blogged about it recently so I copied some of the details from that post below if anyone is interested:

When my best friend told me about the MyVegas game on Facebook, it sounded like the type of thing that was cool but probably not interesting enough to pay serious attention to, I’m sure tainted a bit by my aversion to most things Facebook.

I started to get a bit more interested when my best friend told me he earned enough free comps from the game to get two premium tickets to the Cirque De Soleil show “O”. Couple that with the new Hyatt/MGM Resorts M Life partnership and this started to intrigue me. Here’s a sampling of the rewards you can earn:

10,000 points (a few days of occasional playing) yields a free ticket to a popular concert.

A million points will allow you to pick the fountain songs at the Bellagio fountain show for a romantic evening. And, roughly 50,000 points get you a caviar and vodka tasting at Petrossian. I’ve been playing off and on for about a month and have roughly 50,000 points. There are buffet passes, free drinks and much more. The rooms available via comps don’t strike me as a great value, since you can normally find pretty good rates in Vegas (even better if you combine your airline purchase with your hotel reservation). 81,000 points gets you a free night at Monte Carlo on the weekend, gotta think you can get better value than that.

The game is based mostly around slot machine play and there’s plenty of strategy. There are sites dedicated to proper strategy, message boards, whole legions of folks coming up with the ideal strategy to maximize earnings.

You collect chips from the casinos you build and spend them playing various games. There’s a daily spin bonus and a social component. The more friends you invite to play the game the bigger bonus you get on a daily basis.

You can buy chips to accelerate your earnings, but this just strikes me as completely against the point if you’re a deal junkie. Similar to buying miles, I could see opportunities where you’re trying to get to a specific redemption. But, other than that, I see the purpose as building up points for some free fun on your next Vegas trip.

Yeah, I kinda think FB is the devil, but I know a few folks who have been redeeming. And, there's a thread on TOBB about it as well.

It’s an easy to play game, lots of slots, doesn't require a ton of attention but will not run unattended due to various mini-games that pop up. The big downside is it is a Flash based game so no iOS... Since Pizzaman posted I’ve played maybe four times for hours at a time and am up to 6,000 points/coins whatever.

They gave me 30k credits for the games when I was on vacation last week, so if you are low on credits for the game consider leaving for a bit and letting them draw you back.

If you could play this on an iPhone I'd have a million points by now. I do find that when you get up to the higher levels you can set it to do 100 spins and it's pretty brainless. Yes, you have to stop for the mini-games, but I find you can get 30 or 40 spins in before one stops you. Also, you can play the birds one and that one has a lot less stops for mini games.

I've been playing this on and off for a while, sometimes play every day and others I go a couple of weeks without touching it.

You'll need to set your fb preferences so that the app posts to you only, otherwise you're going to be spamming all your friends about what bonus game you just played or what reward you collected.

I haven't really redeemed for any "perks" so I have around 125k points right now, which is enough for a few rewards. I think you need to give them a few days between when you claim and when things are available.

It's a decent way to pass the time I guess...

Also its a facebook game so you "join" it by searching for MyVegas on facebook and letting the app take hold of your information. When Pizzaman posted about it I assumed he had some sort of referral link for me to sign up with - thats not the case, once you sign up for the game you can link up to other facebook friends, of course they try to get you to harass your friends but you don't have to.

    Yeah should be here: https://apps.facebook.com/playmyvegas/?fb_source=bookmark_apps&ref=bookmarks&count=0&fb_bmpos=2_0

But as you said you need to link up with people on facebook as friends first, then you can link up in the game.

And the friends don't have to be active in the game. As long as they accept your invitation they count on your cumulative total for daily spin bonuses. Hence the reason I thought a MP team would be a good idea.

I have been playing this game for awhile now. It's definitely worth it. I've seen a couple of shows for free. I've eaten a couple of buffets for free, and will be doing so again when I go back out there in late October. The LP's add up more quickly then you might think.

Can a team be started for that app? I have not seen that option before.

I started playing a month ago, and have built up 15k points just by playing Blackjack. Now that I'm a MLife Gold (thanks to the Hyatt status match), it makes sense for me to play the games, because I'll probably be enjoying the discounts at MGM properties. Plus I can set the slots to auto play while I actually do work - nothing like double dipping in America.

I'd be up for team play on FB. Haven't explored the app, but the app connects via Facebook, so I've got a feeling that it links to your game on Facebook?

    This sounds fun.

I too am not an FB user, I have an account only for promo's. I would be interested in joining an MP team.......

So, it's not a team concept, per se. But, we can start a list here of folks that want to play and join each other's friends group so everyone gets the max bonus every day. I'm Edward Pizzarello on FB for those that might not already know. I know some folks like to keep their online profile separate from real life, so I'm happy to take people's info via a private conversation and help facilitate getting folks signed up with each other.

Okay, so I'm not a complete social troglodyte. I've managed to set up a FG group called Milepoint MyVegas. Ping me on FB and I'll invite you to join. Current Milepoint members who are part of my team have been asked if they want to join and are already part of the group. You earn progressively more points on a daily basis by having more FB friends in your MyVegas group, so by asking folks in the Milepoint MyVegas group if you can add them it should facilitate maxing your bonus out sooner.

So, I tried linking the app to my FB account and i ended up with another account for the app? Anyone know what I am doing wrong, or is that the way it is supposed to work?

I experienced the same thing, plus the app is clunky looking for the ipad, I might pass...
