    are there still planes that are mostly cargo w/a few rows of seating for purchase? (I seem to recall an an airline or two that had these types of planes, my Pop mentions catching a KLM flight YEARS ago that was mostly a cargo plane w/so many rows of seats for purchase.)

    KLM still flies their 747 kombi's. Saw one in IAH a few weeks ago.

    I would doubt it, just less seats I guess. Air China still flies a combi between PEK and FRA as well.

    On the KL combi the seating area (which is still Y) to the left of the entry door is very quiet and only has a few seats- this is an advantage. Other than that- I cannot think of any real pros to flying a combi- except perhaps with pax it is faster to board/deplane.
