    HI All

I'm looking for options to transfer my MR from AMEX before the annual fee on the card is due. From reading I see that i can book any star alliance flight using KrisFlyer points (one way at half the miles cost in the awards chart shown below). I assume that I'll have to find availability using ANA or UA site and then call Singapore Airlines to book. Are there fees and surcharges I should be aware of? Thanks!

They add fuel surcharges to award tickets when the fare includes those
You only get the 15% discount on online booking for... online booking (Singapore flights)
Points expire after 3 years, activity in your account does not extend them

without calling and asking them to price an award, has there been and posts or threads where some of these surcharges are listed?

it varies by itinerary - just price out a paid ticket, SQ will charge you the same taxes and fees (including YQ) that you find on a paid ticket

Can you confirm the below example as a good way to do this:
    1. Use UA site to search for award NYC - SXM (one way)
    2. On the Confirm page select "Want to save your miles? Consider one of these options" section and choose your flight class (economy in my example)
    3. Click on the taxes section in the following page's fare details. So you'are expected to pay $83.45 for my example.
    Taxes/Fees

Netherlands Antilles Airport Improvement Fee $5.00
Netherlands Antilles Aiport Departure Tax $33.00
Netherlands Antilles Pax Screening Fee $10.00
    U.S. Federal Transportation Tax $16.70
    Panama Airport Security Fee $1.25
    U.S. Customs User Fee $5.50
    U.S. Immigration User Fee $7.00
    U.S. APHIS User Fee $5.00
    Total $83.45
