MR points - Loose them upon closing AMEX Biz Gold?

    I have TWO AMEX biz bold cards.
    both getting closer and closer to one year anniversary and I will not want to pay the annual fee. time to move on to other cards.
    thus far I am not seeing a good PRG offer out there.
    I do have AMEX DL, SPG, blue cash.
    will they make me burn or forfeit my MR points if i close the Gold cards?
    what are options
    I want to get a new SPG personal before the 30k offer ends....not too interested in the other cards.
    sitting on 80k MR points....been trying to build and stash for SQ trip in J or F sometime in future

    If you close the card and don't have any other Membership Rewards cards, then yes, you'll lose the points. Best to transfer them out to a program, then close the card.

    If you're saving up for an SQ trip, why not transfer those 80K MR to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer?

    non committal on the SQ.,...its aspirational but really i need 2 tix so i am not even half way there. would rather keep them flexible....
    i guess i either apply for a new amex maybe PRG or transfer

    So, just to confirm, if I cancel my personal Gold card, but still have the business gold card, I won't lose any points, right?

    Hi Mikus, just saw your post. Yes, you are correct, you will not lose the points. I just closed my personal and still have the business. I did verify with Amex that I would be ok, before I closed it. :)

    In one of the other forums there were members who asked for the retention dept. at Amex and they were given offers to keep their cards. It may be worth a phone call.

    I tried 3 times...no love for me. :-( Finally just cancelled as I had the business...but that is up for renewal in November so I need to either use the points or pay the fee then.
