I booked PHL-SFO-PDX on UA, but the PHL-SFO leg is a US flight. Since I have status on US will they let me move up to an earlier PHL-SFO flight even though it's a codeshare? I wouldn't mind having a long layover at SFO and having lunch in the city.

My best guess is that if the ticket number is from a different airline than the one you would call to request a confirmation onto a different flight on the same day, this will be difficult because they will not be able to rewrite the ticket easily. You might have better luck at the airport or travelling standby on the desired flight if allowed.

Thanks. I'll see what the earlier flights are looking like before I end up spending the day at the Philly airport.
