    Welcome to MilePoint!

There aren't really many good ones. Do the points have to go into AA? Could you put them in a partner for the desired booking?

There's a few ways of earning AA miles:
    1. Flying AA and their partner airlines
    2. Credit card spend on their co-branded credit cards
    3. Bankdirect, here's more info: http://www.bankdirect.com/programs/aadvantage.aspx
    4. SPG points which can be earned through hotel stays, credit card spend, and their new Crossover promotion with Delta.

If you're not going to fly them or their partners, then I recommend the SPG points option. For every 20K you transfer, you get a 5K bonus.

    Hope this helps!

Another option to consider may be to use any means for getting US Airways miles. Before long*, they'll become AA miles. And in the meantime, the US miles can be used for certain AA awards -- as long as you have enough of them.

One way to quickly get US miles right now is for a US Airways credit card cardholder to buy/gift them.
"Get 100% bonus miles when you gift miles
Use your US Airways MasterCard® or Visa® credit card to gift and you’ll get or give a 100% bonus – up to 50,000 miles."
Cost: Just shy of 1.8 cpm after the bonus.

What is your redemption goal? It may be possible to redeem via another program in a manner which is a better overall value than transferring the points to AA.

In general, there is no good way to transfer miles from one airline-specific frequent flier program to another. Once the points are in an airline program, you need to use them within that program (you can still use them to book flights on that airline's partners).

If you have points in a flexible program (AMEX Membership Rewards, AMEX SPG or Chase Ultimate Rewards) then you can transfer those points to their airline partners, but not to other airlines. If you want to fly on American your best bet might be to transfer AMEX points to British Airways and book American flights from there -- it depends on what flights you're interested in.

There is one other possibility, which is to transfer your flexible account miles to a hotel program (like Hilton) that allows you to convert the hotel points to airline miles. You'll probably lose at least 50% of the value this way, however.

You can find a friend here on Milepoint who will book tickets for you or your friends using his/her AA miles in return for your depositing Amex or hotel points into his eligible miles accounts.
