More Travelers Are Fighting Back to Avoid Airline Baggage Fees
I'm always scared that Southwest will start charging for baggage fees at some point. Hopefully they remain competitive, because once all the airlines being to charge, there may be no turning back. At least stories like this may catch the airline's attention when the economy goes down. Maybe this will be the first fee to go to attract customers. Until the economy sinks a bit, I doubt we'll see any changes in the baggage fee policies. We might just see it getting worse actually.
Does carting your bags through the airport and then having them gate-checked count as a way to avoid paying baggage fees?
Baggage fees will never go away. And even if they do, the airlines will just increase the price of airfare by $25 per ticket (or whatever an airline charges for baggage). And then people will complain about airfare going up.
