Since moving to Asia, it's been a struggle staying loyal to the Hilton Group. While in the US, and to a lesser extent Europe, you can find properties at the lower end of the spectrum to tide you over, properties in Asia are all top-notch. An example: I have 3 days in Hong Kong in two months – one choice: The Conrad. It's a great hotel and all, but it's really expensive, and I can't always manage it. A trip to Delhi next month is ok, but only because two new properties have just opened. Kuala Lumpur is also good since the opening of the Doubletree. But we need more choice.

While that's true, I mean lower prestige properties. I've not seen a HHonors Category 1, 2, or 3 hotel, and the 4s are far and few between. How about some Garden Inns, Homewoods?

I couldn't agree more! How about a Hilton Hotel for Taipei? Hilton hasn't had a presence there for a number of years now.

And cheap or expensive translates not always into good value either!;) It depends on the property, the personal meaning of a room rate // brand in relation to cost and service // standards received.;)

Indeed a great idea, would be nice to have in Asia a greater choice of Hilton brands across the Hilton Family board, make that Europe too!;)

Keep an eye on the Thailand properties in general and the the Bangkok ones in particular (the Conrad and the Millennium Hilton) as the flood is taking a toll on the hospitality industry and thus bringing rates down. Yep, Taipei was one place I was truly stuck. Went with a reasonable local hotel in the end, but missed the points.

How about an Asia-specific lower-cost brand family? Something with a distinctly Asian feel, catering to families and the less well-off looking to explore Asia, and also to regional tourism.
