Let's shoot for sometime in September because of the Chicago seminars in October. I'd be all for it! Kudos to you!

    Friday
    6:00 pm Pre-dinner drinks - Peter B's Brew Pub
The restaurant is on the back side of the Portola Hotel, across from the Custom House Plaza, near the downtown parking garages and 2 blocks walk to our dinner venue. If the weather is warm enough, I'll grab us tables on the front patio. It's not the very best place for drinks, but it works location-wise, they have a daily Happy Hour, and other nearby options' noise-levels are a concern.

7:30 pm Dinner - Montrio Dress is casual.

Post-dinner bar & cafe crawl on Alvarado St.

    Saturday
Breakfast on your own, but feel free to join me at Parker-Lusseau 8:15 am-ish for coffee and croissant, then to Trader Joe's.
09:45 am - Meet in front of Colton Hall, 570 Pacific St, Monterey.
    • Colton Hall, opens at 10 am.
      California's first capital building.
    • Earthbound Farms, Carmel Valley
A global leader in organic farming. Check your supermarket shelves!
    • [optional] Chateau Julien
The only winery in Carmel Valley that has an open vineyard on site.
    • Siesta before dinner.

8:00 pm Dinner - Passionfish, Pacific Grove
Please note the reservation time has changed from 7:30 to 8:00. Parking is easy in Pacific Grove, and the nearest bus stop is 1/2 block from the restaurant's front door. Dress is casual. Don't be late.

This itinerary was constructed to work by public bus or by car. Of course, we could fit more into the day if done by car, but going together by bus has its merits too.

    Sunday
    TBD - Breakfast

12:00 pm Lunch - The Bench, Pebble Beach
We will definitely need to carpool to get to Pebble Beach. Unfortunately they don't open till 11 am and could not confirm a group reservation until noon. I may call back and change it to separate tables of 4, depending on your departure times.

    Monarch Butterfly Grove, Pacific Grove
Thousands of butterflies 'winter' in a grove of eucalyptus and pine trees. Their numbers peak end of November, but we may catch the earl arrivals. google pics

    Point Pinos Lighthouse, Pacific Grove
The oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast. Open 1-4 pm, $2 suggested donation.

The C restaurant + bar, Intercontinental The Clement hotel, Cannery Row
An afternoon drink on the outdoor patio if weather permits, then a walk along the touristy and historic district.

All points on a Google Map.

Yes, you most certainly can however would it make me a kayak snob if I preferred the closed-type over the open ones as shown in the video? I was just surfing and found an interesting closed-type kayak bay tour:

    http://www.montereybaykayaks.com/Ho...=Guided Tours&s3op=eq&s3=Monterey Bay&sop=AND

    Just a thought. :)

Oh geesh. I LOVE Monterey area. But it seems packing a lot of stuff into September is just not going to work. Sigh, that was a great month when my mom and I drove down the Pacific coast and visited these areas too. I'm just going to be perplexed as to which DO to DO if any. hehe.

If this comes together, I appoint you Official Kayak Tour Guy. Deal?

Well, depending on interest this could happen in October! Shall I add you to the "Interested" list?

Sorry, wasn't checking this forum over the weekend. I'd love to!

Can't do either of the September dates as we're traveling.

Oh yes... I forgot that date too. But I can drive to that. Have we picked a firm date for that? And, snap, you should come to the Charleston Do too! A coast to coast month!

I DO believe the SC DO is Sept. 28-30. So, those dates probably wouldn't be good for anyone going and wanting to go to Monterey too.

You could add me to the interested list;) I'm still working out September plans too so nothing is set in stone at this point for me then. I may be doing Hawaii the Sept 7th week. I was considering Charleston the 28th-30th.

I'm happy to say, between MP and FT, we have 12 Interesteds so far!

Once the optimal weekend can be chosen [likely after SMDO4 is announced], I will definitely post under Meetups.
