Now that the acute problem is solved, anyone have favorite places on
    the island?

Edited to add: car rental has been unsold out, so that's one issue
    resolved. Whew!

Edited to add: lodging not a concern any more, now we have access to
    wheels.

Hotels.com shows 4 choices available on Molokai during most of February. Wandering Aramean usually has the low down on space available when there is a concern.

I just got back from a day trip there last week. If you don't mind me asking, How long are you staying? What's on the itinerary?

I did a 4 hour tour booked through my place in Maui. Molokai was very pretty, despite the rain and the choppy ferry ride back . The clouds did cover Kalaupapa though.

BTW, gas was $5.15 when I was there...

I did something similar in 2001. Took the ferry over to Molokai in the morning, rented a car, drove around the island for half a day, then took the ferry back in the late (?) afternoon. Was nice and when I have more vacation or other free time, I might actually be interested in spending some quiet time there.

Mrs Sweet Willie & I stayed at what was a Sheraton property back a number of years, The Molokai Ranch. The property offered a main lodge & then 'luxury' tents down by the beach. We opted for the tents w/private outdoor showers/sink area. The LONG walk from the lodge down the hill to the beach was BEAUTIFUL. Sheraton let go of the property a year after we were there. Here are some photos of the tents: http://www.hawaiiforvisitors.com/molokai/lodging/molokai-ranch-beach-village.htm
Sadly it looks as if the whole complex has closed.

I'll try to dig up my notes on our eats we had there.

I really liked the island, Maui is still Mrs Sweet Willie's fave.
