I attended a restaurant company conference this week and bacon was brought up as a game changing ingredient. Bacon and all things bacon have been a popular Box topic.

    1. What is the most intriguing bacon item you've seen/read about?

    2. What is the best bacon item you've tried?

    3. What bacon item did you really want to like but it just didn't work?

"Where we flip, cook, and roll your flying experience using bacon from everywhere. Bacon from France, Japan, Italy, Chile and USA."

    "MMMM, Bacon!"

Makes thinks of Iron Chef America. Todays in food ingredient is....... Bacon!

    Nope.

I do have to say. I think there are some foods that should not go with bacon.

How about the bacon explosion thing? Do a Google Image search. I've never tried it but seen it on the web a lot. There are of course numerous variants but it's pork sausage covered with BBQ sauce and/or dry rub, rolled up, then rolled up in a weave of bacon. Heart attack for certain but it seems like a perfect Super Bowl food. I'd like to at least try it.

I have bacon salt but never had an opportunity to cook with it - mostly because I pretty much never use salt when cooking. Gotta keep the BP down as it is, so maybe the bacon explosion isn't a good choice for me after all.

I subscribe to the Bacon Today blog, and its kind of ridiculous the things people will do with bacon... including the bacon explosion.

I've had bacon cinnamon rolls, bacon pancakes, bacon popcorn, bacon chocolate, and my personal favorite... the Bacon Maple Bar.

I was given a jar of Baconnaise as a gift, but I just don't have the stones to try it
    .
Bacon vodka is not good by itself, but I bet it would make an awesome bloody mary.. or pasta dish.

Vosges makes a bacon bar which wasn't as good as it could have been... but that could be because it was milk chocolate which is not my favorite.

    Bacon mints were disgusting.

I'd like to try a Bacon Turducken

I've tried smoked beer. It did absolutely nothing for me. I'm sure that some people love it with just the right food but it was not for me.

I have baconnaise too - came in a gift pack with several bacon salts. Too afraid to try it out myself.

But bacon maple bars such as those from Voodoo donuts in PDX are fantastic. Bacon is something that should never be placed in front of me if you don't want it all consumed post haste.

I once sent some bacon-flavored envelopes to a dude as part of a secret santa gift. He reported that they actually tasted somewhat like bacon upon licking the adhesive.

Sunday roasts in Ireland, the UK and Canada many times consist of roast back bacon. And it just melts in your mouth.

And as far as bacon beer goes, why bother - bacon plus beer
is so easy to accomplish - and can be sublime.

    voodoo is awesome.

There is also a place up in Bothell (north of Seattle) called Frost that does a better bacon donut than voodoo IMO

True Bacon fans and travelers must go to Macedonia. They do things with bacon and cheese that are out of this world.

Canadian Bacon goes well with pineapple on a pizza, and doesn't totally suck on eggs benedict (although proscuitto is better)

Just had Bacon Jam last weekend. Had a good smokiness to it, but it tasted a lot like balsamic onion jam with pureed bacon mixed in. In limited quantites, it was fantastic.

Smoked beer from the Schlenkerla brewery is an acquired taste, but oh so good with meat and cheese.

Reminded me of Peter Luger bacon. Need to make a bacon run this year.
