Looks like the beginning of more award chart creep from HHonors. I get that points are relatively easy to earn, but should we expect a new category every year or so?

Since I believe the Bentley Hotel in London is classified as a Waldorf property by Hilton, I would guess that Category 8 pricing you're seeing (especially since it quotes low season and high season pricing) is the Waldorf pricing levels that Hilton has had for a while.

The Bentley was a Waldorf property but has recently been changed to Hilton. (See my link to the related thread in the first post.)

    From waldorfastoria.com:
"The Bentley London - this hotel has transitioned to a Hilton Hotels and Resorts"

Sorry...missed that aspect of your post. Strange indeed then, especially since it has inflated pricing above and beyond what it was previously when classified as a WA property.

I'm now guessing HHonors is about to come out with yet another devaluation. After all, it's been a whole 18 months since the last devaluation.

That's why I started this as a new thread. Is this an indication of more changes coming soon?

I certainly hope not...the last one they did 18 months ago was brutal enough. If they do another major devaluation it might be the last straw and push me into finally moving to a program like Marriott or Hyatt.

Oh man. And I thought the value I lost from driving my new car off the lot was bad. Guess I'll have to figure out a quicker way to burn my HHonors points and kill off my status.

No kidding, one of the values of HHonors, especially in comparison to SPG was the relative ease of stays at "aspirational" properties such as those in the Maldives. With any additional devaluations, the potential for that balance to be upset grows.

I hate to play devils advocate here but isnt that the type decision one has always had to make when redeeming awards irrespective of whether the relevent property is a cat 2 or 8?

Recently I looked at two properties in Napa, the HGI and the American Canyon DT both cat 6 = 40k points/night which were bookable at $136 and $98 respectively... makes the Bentley look like a great deal doesnt it?:)

Sweet Jesus. For that redemption value, I'd rather just pay for the nights.... at another chain to start earning status with them instead.

Well if you visit the DT during the week after Labour Day you could run into me:D
2 rooms one at $98 the other at 12.5K points per night booked before the property was bumped from cat 2 to 6.

Nope. Just a typo, per a company rep posting on FT:
    Also, re this:
That appears to be out of date, assuming it was ever correct in the first place. I did a dummy booking for a random nght in September, and the reward rate was 50K (consistent with cat 7 status).
