Emirates is one of the sponsors of KQED, the Public Radio station in the San Francisco area and every now and then the announcer will make a plug for the airline.

Their tagline is something like "fly from San Francisco to Dubai and over 100 destinations beyond".

I understand that Emirates can make the claim that they fly to over 100 destinations if you are starting out in Dubai.

But it sounds a little disingenuous if you say that for a San Francisco based flyer. If I fly Emirates from San Francisco to Dubai, I'm not going to be fly backwards to say New York, Toronto, or even any of the Emirates destinations in Europe. So it isn't really over 100 destinations.

    :)

I should have qualified my statement to say "regular" travelers.

Or SFO-DXB-LAX would be a killer replacement for the normal 1 hour flight between SFO and LAX ;)
