I realized that there isn't a thread on Milwaukee Dining, time to start one. What are your worthwhile Milwaukee places to dine?

So last night I was at a pizza dinner in Milwaukee with some MPers & FTers, the place? Zaffiro's.

Zaffiro's serves some seriously good pizza, ULTRA cracker thin crust, with tasty toppings.

Not for dining, but you have to check out the Spy Bar for drinks and an all around good time. Its especially fun if you are with a group (3 or more) of people.

so did approx 12 FTers in Aug of 2003 when Randy came into town, we started with dinner at Karl Ratszch's then finished at the Safe House. Lots of fun.

A couple of other Milwaukee food ideas:
    Speed Queen BBQ: http://www.foodspot.com/Clients/WI/Milwaukee/SpeedQueenBarBQ/default.aspx?accid=16324
Milwaukee is doubtful to ever rival other BBQ capitals but if one is jonesen for some BBQ, Speed Queen will get you a nice BBQ fix until you do get to KC, Memphis, Lockhart. I think Speed Queen does rib tips & a pork shoulder roast the best. (Get the 'outside' shoulder with the charred bits). Not the nicest atmosphere or neighborhood but good BBQ.

Jake's Deli: www.jakes-deli.com While Jakes is not making their own corned beef or pastrami, they do treat what they buy like Katz's in NYC. They keep the meats in a steamer cabinet on the line, so when you order, the oh so juicy meat is pulled from the warm steam cabinet & sliced fresh. Jakes is a very good sandwich.

For lunch, I really enjoyed going to the Milwaukee Public Market. It has lots of good food, a tremendous variety, and a relaxed atmosphere.

from the looks of the market, this would make a fun trip. www.milwaukeepublicmarket.org
shame on me, I had not been to Jakes in a couple years. Last Thursday, Mrs Sweet Willie & I stopped in for dinner on our way up to N Wisconsin. I don't know how but the corned beef & pastrami were better than I ever remember. The North Ave location is truly a food gem and not to be missed. Chicago has NOTHING like these sandwiches, sad to say.

Very, very good Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee is La Fuente. Started going there when was in college and it was very small. In 15 years have quadrupled its size but food still top notch.
