This past Monday, I flew FLL-EWR and had something interesting happen at the FLL club. When I gave my lifetime membership card and ID, the agent said she had something for me and gave me a generic "congratulations on reaching this milestone" card. Handwritted inside it was a note thanking me for being a member of the "mileage program" for 15 years.

I've got to give the people of UA credit for going out of their way to recognize a milestone that I wasn't even aware I was hitting. This made me feel like a valued customer.

This year (2012) marks my 20th with UA (pmUA)....nothing, nada, zilch.
    Over-entitled, I guess. ;)

That's a rather interesting but appreciative gesture all the same. I'm on my 5th year as a MileagePlus member now ;).

I actually think this may have been something just done by the FLL club people and not by Mileage Plus. The agents there rock!

Not in FLL....I only go through there a few times a year. The agents in all the EWR clubs as well as BOS, and DCA know me as a regular.

Joe McDonald retired!! He was one of the best agents in the entire company....When I met Larry Kellner once, I told him that I wanted to single out a President's Club employee in Washington for exceptional service and Larry mentioned his name before I could even say it.

26 years as a (lifetime) member of the President's/United Club and 26 years in TravelBank/Onepass/MileagePlus. I do feel the good wishes flowing my way.:)

The FLL agents are good people and they make me feel welcome, but the club is small for the crowds they attract. They could use a bigger restroom, too.

No wonder I didn't see him the last few times I was at DCA. What a bummer!

I've been a MileagePlus member since February 1986 (so 26+ years). I once got a generic "Happy Anniversary" email from United around Valentines Day, but it made no mention of how many years we've been together.

Customer care did recognize my join date on a recent compliment letter to UA for an excellent employee.

Member since 1986 as well. Wife is a 1983 member (she was the big CO business traveler before me). In fact, she was honored  that she was left stranded in LA when CO declared BR the first time and she had to find her own way home  sans help from CO.

No official recognition from CO/UA ever for being PC members.

I am not aware of any anniversary type of recognition for any but the truly monumental frequent flyers other than through miles flown with the Million Miler Program. The President's/United Club has been great over the years as its gone from just 13 club rooms to whatever you want to count now. I also flew through the BR, but it was no problem at all - my flights were great, on time and, if memory serves, I was able to use my upgrade certs (as a Bronze) as many business flyer's shied away. I know they did cancel many flights outside of their hubs, so my congratulations to your wife on her resourcefulness in returning home. I know CO was one phone call away from disappearing at one point.
