Just thought i would share this tidbit. On my last assignment i flew to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the mainland often. I of course was excited to learn the flight was operated by Continental, and i could earn miles. However that is not the case, any miles earned on a military charter flight do not count towards mileage.

    FYI to fellow traveler's.

I don't think I would want to earn through the MilitaryMiles program. The award options probably don't go to very friendly places. :(

Have never really thought about such military charters, interesting, but no miles on them unfortunately and some very difficult destinations too.
But thanks for bringing us this subject nearer here on MP, rarely heard about such flights // charters.

This may give you an idea of what traveling with the military is like. :) This is when I returned from R&R leave during my first deployment to Afghanistan in 2007.

I have not looked at this TR in a long time, so it's kind of amusing to go back. My pre-QC 15 (those were the post Afghan deployment #2 present) Bose headphones (had the OE2's) would've been somewhere, the DL Amenity Kit from other travels, and the pillow (seen in the pic on the bunk bed) is still on my bed today. And, of course, the EZ bear got his pic in ATL.

    :)

Charters, whether military or otherwise, generally don't earn miles. I think I've seen a few exceptions, but it's rare.

Actually GTMO, Cuba was a great place for diving, one of the last natural reef's out there. And protected by both countries so it is awesome for day and night diving, plus spear fishing.
