    Hi All

I have been working on an app for fellow miles and points enthusiasts that will help us stay up to date with all the news and happenings in the frequent flyer world.

Today, I am excited to announce that the milefeeds app is available as a free download on the App Store.

Please click here to download the app from the App Store.

Starting today, you can follow over 45 blogs and forums like milepoint and flyertalk from the milefeeds app.

Some of the key features of the app include

    · ability to follow 45+ blogs under one app

    · ability to customize the blogs you want to follow

    · ability to search across multiple blogs

    · in app browser that allows you to read a post

I would love to get your feedback on what you think about the app and any suggestions you might have. I have included most of the popular blogs by default, if there is a blog that you'd like to see included, please let do me know.

    Thanks
    Satish

    Nice. Comments:

    - You need to add The Points Guy: http://thepointsguy.com/
    - You need to add Pizza in Motion: http://pizzainmotion.com/
    - You need to add Deals We Like: http://boardingarea.com/dealswelike/
    - You need to add Dans Deals, especially the forums: http://boardingarea.com/dealswelike/
    - You need to add Mile Cards: http://milecards.com/
    - There are various blogs now under http://first2board.com/ that are worth a look

Another font choice would be nice. I'd increase the size a little if I could.

A lot of the time when I'm scrolling a web page I see a blank space at the bottom covering up part of the page. Also of course the banner at the top is wasted space too. Suggest following Safari's guidance here in iOS 7, e.g. show me that when I tap up there, and maybe support a swipe gesture to go back? Up to you though.

The bottom line (after I tap there to reveal it) should have tools: open in Safari, send via email/twitter/facebook. Not sure what else. Maybe even pinboard and read-it-later type options.

There should probably be a way to "favorite" something so its kept in a special place.

What's the benefit of your app over a general RSS feed reader?

Thanks for your feedback. Appreciate it.

The Points Guy, Pizza in Motion, Deals We Like and Mile Cards are now available. You will need to go to the settings menu and navigate back to the main menu to see these new blogs.
I do have a couple of first2board bloggers (MrPickles and milenomics), I'm open to adding more.
I'm working on getting the Dansdeals forums added.

The white banner at the bottom of the page is the ad banner space, I am not currently displaying any ads but will do so in the future.

I see a lot of value in some of the other features you've requested, you will see some of these features in future versions.

No managing urls, updating feeds, changing reader apps etc. Also, not all blogs offer rss feeds.

Really? I have about 250 sites in my RSS readers, and I don't recall ever seeing a blog without a feed.

As for not managing URLs, that cuts both ways, doesn't it?

It's down to personal preference, if 250+ blogs in a RSS reader is yours, so be it :)

I know of one in this space, of the 150+ I've got included in the feed for Hack.Travel, TravelSort. There are also a couple who have opted out of my feed but they do have RSS out there.

    Matt @ Saverocity
    Milesabound.com
    Well Traveled Mile

    Very Good Points

Please navigate to the settings tab and back to see these changes.

Some of the previous suggestions from @gconnery will be in the next version, pending Apple's review.

As always, please keep the feedback coming.

    Thanks

Is there a OPML file I can grab for these feeds? I don't have an iphone. An OPML file is what Outlook and other newsreader programs use to store RSS feeds.

Love to here your thoughts on associated topics of ethics, copyright violation (fair use typically does not allow full use of someone else's material) and legality of trying to monetize someone else's material without their explicit permission and business arrangement.

    Dear Randy,

    Here are my thoughts.

    On Ethics:

milefeeds provides value to its users by making it easy to follow news from different sources. It helps some readers discover blogs that they might not have been aware of, driving traffic to the blog, albeit far from significant. I am not quite sure if I agree with the statement that milefeeds intends to monetize on other's material, I believe milefeeds provides value to its users by being a platform to view content and the platform is what is being monetized not the content. The content always belongs to the author, milefeeds links back to the source. Knowing the time and effort it takes to provide such a platform, I don't feel it is unethical to display ads to generate revenue. Neither do I expect a blogger to compensate milefeeds if a user were to sign up for a credit card using an affiliate link from within the app.

On copyright violation and fair use:

Copyrights and fair use violation within the realm of syndication is still a grey area and I am not an expert on IP laws. However, In my opinion, providing a platform to view the blogger's original content does not violate the blogger's copyright. Some people might have a different opinion about it and I respect that. If someone requests that milefeeds stops linking to their content, I would be glad to comply.

Hopefully this addresses any concerns you may have had.

    Thanks
    Satish

Important Update: milefeeds is currently offline. Please bear with me as this is resolved. ETA is 2 weeks due to Apple's release cycle.
