    OK
    DTW is my home airport.
    I have 53,682 MQM's.
I have a flight from DTW to Miami and back and a trip from DTW to JFK and back but no where near enough to make Platinum.
I have never done mileage runs before but am seriously considering it.
Any mileage runs I do will be me getting to destination and turning around to come home as soon as I can get a flight.
I was debating doing HKG and back but I think I will still be 5K short.
    SO
    1) Any runs you guys can suggest?
    2) Do they sell any MQMs at the end of the year?

or is this foolish of me to even consider?

PS Already have the Delta Business Reserve so I don't think I can apply for and take advantage of any of those offers.

I'm not sure it's worth it but Delta does do some HKG flights that hub through ATL and NRT that might add enough miles to help but could still leave you short. I would research a bunch of dates and routes to see if you can make it work. It might also help to go all the way around the world with the time zones but the cost might kill that idea for you.

Well, you have asked a few questions but could you clarify

    1) Is your 53,682 MQM inclusive of the DTW-MIA-DTW and DTW-JFK-DTW trip?
These two trips will ~3,000+ MQM.

    2) Do you have enough MQD to make Platinum or you are exempted?

As for the MR suggestion, you can try DTW-NRT-SIN-NRT-DTW.
The flight I tested with (Oct 31st, Friday - Nov 2nd, Sunday) - you burn 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun)
Flights cost you USD 1,177.40 and nets you as a Gold 19,450 MQM and 38,900 redeemable miles

I missed the question on the sale of MQM.
Delta had been selling MQM but since last year, made them targeted..
The higher your level.. the more expensive..
As a guide, my offered prices for the past 3 years...

My suggestion... if you have 3 days to spare.. take the flight.. its cheaper and you get both MQM and the redeemable mile..

From 2015... the same flight will not net you 38,900 miles..
You will only get 1,059.20 x 8 (Gold) = 8,473.6 miles.. You earn 30,000 lesser in the miles :)
So I would say.. go for it!

My MQM is calculated without those two trips.
I am likely to fly first at least one if not both of those trips.

I am exempt from the MQD luckily

Actually am considering something like DTW, ATL, NRT, LHR, DTW (or ATL, DTW)
But of course am open to all ideas!

Gonna be a quick one, just jumping plane to plane but I have done crazy trips before.
My be a little excessive BUT I think it will be fun in a crazy way. Couldn't be any worse than when a friend in college convinced
me to take a bus from Detroit to Vegas with him as he refused to fly.

Wish there was something I could do in 3 days travel to make it to Diamond HAHAHA

How much are you flying next year? It might be better to have a huge rollover next year instead of squeaking by to PM this year.

True but for the OP or anyone in fact, when also considering the earnings starting next year... it might be a good final mileage run that comes with a hefty redeemable miles as a bonus. :)
