    September 2014, Dinner

    Milano, Dawson Street, Dublin, Ireland

Milano is a staple in our life since we are living in Dublin. There are three outlets one at Temple Bar, one at the IFSC and one at Dawson Street.

We came fresh back from Dubai and wanted originally go to the one at Temple Bar, but the restaurant had closed for renovation, so we went to the next convenient location which is at Dawson Street.

During the Celtic Tiger we wanted to try Milano at Dawson Street, but were told at the time they were fully booked and no table was available. The space was essentially empty, so we felt they didn't want our business and had avoided this branch until now, essentially a few years past since then.

This time around we were greeted warmly and immediately brought to a table. The restaurant was buzzing and had undergone a renovation. The walls depicted famous Irish writers, like James Joyce, and excerpts from their books or poems.

We decided to have a bottle of still water, two orange juice, one Risotto Fresco, one Pizza Romana Pollo ad Astra, and as dessert two scoops of ice cream (strawberry and chocolate) and one summer fruit pudding. There was a special offer we took avail off. Our green tea and hot chocolate were free, because we ordered dessert.

As always Milano wasn't a let-down. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, for example one of us chose a different pizza after he was advised the one he had in mind was very spicy, as in too spicy. Good choices were made.

Our bill was 50.45 Euro (ca. 63 USD).

We will return again if we are looking for a good and freshly made pizza.

Would we recommend this restaurant to a friend? YES!
Would we again have lunch or dinner at this restaurant in our future? YES!

Here's a selection of photos we took during our dinner visit at Milano, Dawson Street, Dublin, Ireland, September 2014:

    May 2015, Lunch

    Milano, Temple Bar, Dublin, Ireland

On a weekend in May we were hungry after our visit to Temple Bar which incl. Peachy Dublin at the Temple Bar Gallery and Studios.

Having good experiences with Milano we thought we give the outlet in Temple Bar a try, especially now as it was recently fully renovated with a new look and feel.

The interior was much lighter now and more contemporary in design. The space was still an issue. I had problems squeezing myself in between two tables to reach the bench.

The restaurant was already full. There was a large birthday party and a rather loud German group. It turned remarkable quiet when the Germans left.

We were seated beside an American mother and her adult son. We didn’t know them, but she told us proudly about a special offer. While it's nice to have a special offer, we usually visit a restaurant because we like the food foremost.

The noise levels were very high and it was difficult having a conversation.

Our waitress arrived soon after we had taken our seats to take our orders.

We ordered a small bottle of Acqua Panna, two orange juice, one Leggera Pollo Ad Astra Pizza, one Leggera pasta chicken arrabiata, one broccolini and one Leggera Tortuffo Limoncello (Fior di Latte ice cream with a liquid Limoncello center), which we shared.

The staff was attentive and friendly throughout, even if they were extremely busy.

The quality of the meal was very good and as always reliable.

The ice cream was new for us. We liked the creamy texture and the tangy Limoncello filling.

The cost of the meal was 46.50 Euro or ca. 51.70 USD.

Should we be in Temple Bar and want pizza we will definitely return.

Would we recommend this restaurant to a friend? YES!
Would we love to eat to eat again at this restaurant? YES!

    November 2015, Our Lunch

    Milano, Dawson Street, Dublin, Ireland

In mid-November we took part in the 2nd Dublin Arabic Film Festival, which was coordinated by Jim Sheridan, the famous Irish director.

Between "I am Nojoom, age 10 and divorced" and "The Idol" we had time for late lunch and had reserved a table for two at Milano Dawson Street.

We were glad we did, because when we arrived it was quite full. There were a lot of families with small children. It was a bit loud, but overall the atmosphere was good.

It was our third visit to this outlet of the chain.

Like last time the tables were very close together. In fact it was too tight in our case. When he tried to get to the bench, he managed to swipe down the wine glass from the neighboring unoccupied table and it smashed to the ground. The staff accepted our apologies graciously and within a few minutes no signs of the accident were visible.

Our waiter was with us shortly after we had taken our seats and asked us if we wanted any drinks. We ordered a 1l bottle of Acqua Panna, two Leggera Pollo ad Astra pizzas, one broccolini as a side dish and two Leggera Tartufo Limoncello.

The Leggara pizzas had no center, but were filled with green salad, so they had under 500 kcal. The desserts were under 210 kcal.

    All was delicious.

The service was quick, friendly and precise.

Our bill came in at 49.20 Euro (ca. 52.45 USD).

We like Milano, especially the one in Dawson Street, here service was always spot on, as was the food. We would look forward to eat here again in our future, especially pizza and other Italian specialities from their Leggera offerings.
