Mexico recently launched its first trusted traveler program open to U.S. citizens entitled Programa Viajero Confiable. The program is designed to expedite the process for U.S. citizens to enter Mexico via major airports by providing a pre-approval process for low-risk travelers. It is a program akin to the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Global Entry program designed to streamline the process of foreign visitors entering the U.S.

U.S. citizens interested in the program may apply online, pay a fee, and complete an in-person interview at a designated location. During the interview process, the person will have their photo taken and complete a biometric scan of their irises and fingerprints. Once their documents have been approved, members of the program will be active in the system for five years and will have the ability to access digital kiosks to complete the entry process.
