The AP Monkeys did it again.... but this time in our favour......

They set the Star Alliance reward mileages incorrectly..... so right now you could:

Business Class Reward at Economy Class Rates
First Class Reward at Business Class Rates///////

Consider this Merry Christmas from Aeroplan!!!

I saw the title. Was fully expecting another "enhancement" from Aeroplan as an xmas present. Wasn't expecting something in our favor. :D

Just an update on this....Twitterverse, Facebook are all flooded about this promo........ Some smart people also called in to agents and confirmed this is an "official" promotion........

So its not IT glitch and can use traditional methods of booking you flights....(I class availability on KVS, ExpertFlyer, ANA etc...) then call in for $30 to save on certain carriers' fuel surcharges

  5. Nice marketing by AE to get the masses chattering. Free publicity is a good thing and probably hardly touches their bottom line.

Managed to get in on this. Am considering booking another although The Charming +1 is worried about taking more time off work. The promise of a ride in LX F might change that.

The cynic in me makes me think that the CSR's might be saying it's a (completely unannounced, undocumented) promo rather than admit their website is fubar'd. We'll find out on Monday (or sooner) when the IT guys find out. If it is a promo, hopefully there'll be more just like it later in the year so we can book our 2013 miniRTW. :D

I do recall seeing an email a couple of weeks ago offering a 20% mileage discount for awards but thought it had expired. So this may not have been as stealth as it appears.

Nice flight choices, but I'm curious -- how long are you taking for this trip? How many stopovers?

Me thinks it ain't no promo, rather a glitch in the system.

Booked US-Australia with a stop in Europe and Asia for 80k in Biz.
Got the confirmation, hopefully we're good to go
Nice to be able to burn those miles cheaply. (Didn't even end up paying tons in fuel charges :p and I love LX and SQ anyway...)

This worked out well, I needed to get to LHR next summer and was going to book a couple days ago.. now I'm glad I waited. Headed from YYZ to NYC to FRA to LHR in order to get on Singapore airlines from JFK-FRA.. wanted to experience A380 business class!

The detail that irks me about this deal is that Aeroplan did not announce it to its members. We had to learn about it from third parties.

  16. Maybe that was the purpose. If they give out goodies to the great unwashed it enhances their reputation. We FF'ers who live and breath ways to sniff deals are going to get in on this in any event. Sometimes logic is not always what we think but makes sense to the promoters.

According to gleff (viewfromthewing.com) someone with an aeroplan email address posted that it wasn't an error but a limited time deal on certain routes that could end at anytime.

Amazing addition. still thinking about booking, but have the points banked for emergency use.

NZ is a nice compromise over ANA and UA flat bed is manageable. :0 :p

So you booked an official RTW! What happened to the backyard? :p

Great PR move by AE/AC to generate positive vibes even though this is worse for F miniRTW trips than how things were pre-July 15th. Mini-RTW in F was only 120K then vs 125K on this "stealth promo" and the surcharges were lower. Still, better than the post-promo situation...

    backyard? tore it down.............

Please note Oct 2012 YYZ MiniDo has been reassigned to gate AKL MiniDO

I would use it, emergency mileage can be reinvested at another time.

agreed. i converted all my AP miles into BA only to then get shafted last month with the devaluation for my ex-NA flights to the far east...
