Back when things were different, the flight crews wore Mumus and delivered Mai Tais to passengers on Honolulu flights. From time to time they would have Hawaii memorabilia that was passed out, especially in First Class.
When UAL had its big anniversary of the start of service to Hawaii, they asked the members of the RCC at LAX to bring in any of the worthy memorabilia that we might still have so they could put it on display.
I had a 6" to 8" rubber Menahuni that was in outstanding condition and probably the nicest of their give aways so I brought it in as my contribution to the display. I lent it to them, I did not give it to them and one day the display was dismantled and everything disappeared. No one at the RCC knew anything about what happened to the items.
I wonder if there are any other FF out there that had the same experience. It has always bothered me that a kindness was repaid with total disregard:mad::mad:

Its a while ago but participating in these discussions on Milepoint have caused me to revisit events from the past.
The UA LAX Station had a big todo on what I think was the 25th or 50th Anniversary of their service to Hawaii. Now that I think about it, it was probably not systemwide, just LAX.
As I recall, The displays were up for several months. I can't remember exactly when. I am sure that a few of the LAX RCC would be able to pinpoint when it was, although the number of old timers still on the job has really gone down in the last couple of years.

Probably hasn't changed much. It's smallish. Nothing special but very good staff. The bathrooms are terrible.

Menahune. As a part-Hawaiian, I like to see the correct spelling.
