How about a feature to search registered members by location. Will make it easier to arrange local meetups.

Yes, good idea. Also, in the past people who know my llocation have contacted me privately for location based advice, and I've done the same. Anyone who doesn't want to participate can simply leave their location out of their profile.

Thanks for the suggestion, one we haven't really thought of, I'll add this to the master list and any further ideas on how users imagine something like this could work well feel free to elaborate.

How well could you make this work I wonder? I know real GPS will get you within a few feet, which is enough to (maybe) figure out which gate you're at and from there combine the data with an airline's schedule to figure out which flight you're on, waiting for the gate to close. It could even figure out how far forward you are and determine if you're in F or Y

Cell phone GPS is less precise but could still let you know who's in the same concourse at the airport, like Foursquare. It would be a neat feature for a future MP phone application. You could turn this feature off most of the time so you aren't being followed but turn it on at the airport when you're bored.

I agree that this would be great. Some folks, of course, want to remain mostly anonymous and won't put any location in their profile. But it would be great if we could search in our area for people who do not require anonymity. As I discover that people are in my area (through interaction in a forum or through looking at some profiles), I've been keeping my own list.

I think both would be useful.
