Have you seen their "holding pen" on 9th Ave in NYC? It's hard to imagine people willing to do that more than once.

Honestly that holding pen is a step up. BoltBus is still loading (as of July) from the side of the street in front of a pizza joint. The holding pin keeps everything organized so you are not waiting in a wall of people to mixed destinations. It also means the first to arrive is the first to board. On the street it's a mad rush with little structure on the line.

I haven't used them since they started the holding pen. I've only done street boarding which can be a bit confusing. Thanks for the info btw.

I dunno. It's not protected from the weather. The "organizers" yell at the passengers through bullhorns and treat them almost like prisoners. It's enough to make Amtrak look well organized and civilized

Aside from the holding pen how's the ride? Been seeing $1 and $5 fares between Orlando and Atlanta and Atlanta to New Orleans. Can't beat the price.

The times I used them, I found the rides pretty decent.

Used them from Chicago to Indianapolis and back and were very happy. Flying was an impossible nightmare of price and schedule; Amtrak worse. Megabus was clean, relatively fast (city center to city center beats airport to airport for getting to one's destination), and it was nice to have free Wi-Fi the whole journey. Seats were roomier and more comfortable than flying coach. Would definitely consider them again.
