I'm looking for a flight JFK-MBJ 05/10-05/14. Matrix has JFK-CLT-MBJ -> MBJ-MIA-JFK $811.02 ai. AA.com has the same JFK-CLT-MBJ for $100 more per PAX. How can I get that Matrix price if I want that particular flight? Is it even possible?

What specific flights and class of service?

Odds are it is cached data on the ITA side not updating properly. I see that route/dates at $406 in coach and $886 in biz.

That's showing as low as $469 r/t for me in Y with those outbound flights on ITA but it books into Q on the return and AA 1508 (MIA-JFK) doesn't actually have Q inventory to sell. That's symptomatic of the cached data issue I was describing above.

Are there specific return flights you're also going for?

This is what I see on ITA:

AA 840 does not have Q inventory available for that flight. Also, mentioning that it was for 2 people might've been useful. ;)

Booking the outbound on US codes all the way through should price at $469/person, though I'm not sure it is actually bookable. Hipmunk doesn't see the return option you're aiming for.

Thank you. I guess I'll stick to my itinerary on hold then. It's the same $813 for 2, but I wanted an hour later flight for the same money. Why would ITA show the availability though if there's no inventory?

Because, like many mega-data query systems, they sometimes cache information to make operations faster and cheaper. Sometimes the data changes and the cache doesn't catch up. It happens.

Why and how would that happen given that ITA is the backbone of websites like Orbitz and Turkish Airlines?

Clear cookies or use fresh browser then do the search again to confirm pricing on AA.com.

I noticed on my end that one of my routes had their rates jacked up by $100 but after I cleared my cookies/used another browser I could book it at the original price (same price on ITA)

    Worth a shot.

I don't believe ITA is TK's back-end; I know it is United's. And you know when you get that message that the fare has changed? Often it is related to this sort of thing.

ITA claims it is for TK. I get the "fare has changed" thing most often on Expedia, which is one of the reasons I don't use it.
