Give them a break. They goofed. As a Platinum, I got my miles. Like you miles were promised to my wife and then denied. She's not bummed out. The cost to buy 1,000 miles is around $25. Most of us here based on past FT threads value the miles between 1 and 2 cents. No big loss. Where honoring the promise would have been best, it could also have been very expensive for US Airways while individually of little value to the recipients. From a PR standpoint, US Airways should have done something beyond saying sorry. Giving 100 mile would have cut its cost and saved it some good will.
